Darum, heilige Brüder und Schwestern, die ihr an himmlischer Berufung teilhabt, richtet euren Sinn auf den Apostel und Hohepriester unseres Bekenntnisses: Jesus,
He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.
der — wie auch Mose in Gottes Haus — dem treu ist, der ihn eingesetzt hat!
Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
Denn er ist größerer Herrlichkeit gewürdigt worden als Mose, so wie der, der ein Haus erbaut, größere Ehre hat als das Haus selbst.
For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
Denn jedes Haus wird von jemand erbaut; der aber, der alles erbaut hat, ist Gott.
Mose war zwar in Gottes ganzem Haus treu als ein Dienender zum Zeugnis für das, was künftig gesagt werden sollte.
But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

Warning Against Unbelief
So, as the Holy Spirit says:

vierzig Jahre lang. Darum war mir diese Generation zuwider und ich sagte: Immer geht ihr Herz in die Irre. Sie erkannten meine Wege nicht.
Darum habe ich in meinem Zorn geschworen: Sie sollen nicht in das Land meiner Ruhe kommen.
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
Gebt Acht, Brüder und Schwestern, dass keiner von euch ein böses, ungläubiges Herz hat, dass keiner vom lebendigen Gott abfällt,
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
sondern ermahnt einander jeden Tag, solange es noch heißt: Heute, damit niemand von euch durch den Betrug der Sünde verhärtet wird;
We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
denn an Christus haben wir nur Anteil, wenn wir bis zum Ende an der Zuversicht festhalten, die wir am Anfang hatten.
Wenn es heißt: Heute, wenn ihr seine Stimme hört, verhärtet eure Herzen nicht wie beim Aufruhr —
Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
wer waren denn jene, die hörten und sich auflehnten? Waren es nicht alle, die unter Mose aus Ägypten ausgezogen waren?
And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?
Wer war Gott vierzig Jahre lang zuwider? Waren es nicht die Sünder, deren Leichen in der Wüste liegen blieben?
And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?
Wem aber hat er geschworen, dass sie nicht eingehen sollten in seine Ruhe, wenn nicht den Ungehorsamen?
