Danach sah ich: Vier Engel standen an den vier Ecken der Erde. Sie hielten die vier Winde der Erde fest, damit der Wind weder über das Land noch über das Meer wehte, noch gegen irgendeinen Baum.
Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:
Dann sah ich vom Aufgang der Sonne her einen anderen Engel emporsteigen; er hatte das Siegel des lebendigen Gottes und rief den vier Engeln, denen die Macht gegeben war, dem Land und dem Meer Schaden zuzufügen, mit lauter Stimme zu
“Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”
und sprach: Fügt dem Land, dem Meer und den Bäumen keinen Schaden zu, bis wir den Knechten unseres Gottes das Siegel auf die Stirn gedrückt haben!
Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
Und ich erfuhr die Zahl derer, die mit dem Siegel gekennzeichnet waren. Es waren hundertvierundvierzigtausend aus allen Stämmen der Söhne Israels, die das Siegel trugen:

The Great Multitude in White Robes
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

Danach sah ich und siehe, eine große Schar aus allen Nationen und Stämmen, Völkern und Sprachen; niemand konnte sie zählen. Sie standen vor dem Thron und vor dem Lamm, gekleidet in weiße Gewänder, und trugen Palmzweige in den Händen.
And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

Sie riefen mit lauter Stimme und sprachen: Die Rettung kommt von unserem Gott, der auf dem Thron sitzt, und von dem Lamm.
All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
Und alle Engel standen rings um den Thron, um die Ältesten und die vier Lebewesen. Sie warfen sich vor dem Thron auf ihr Angesicht nieder, beteten Gott an
saying:

and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.

und sprachen: Amen, Lob und Herrlichkeit, Weisheit und Dank, Ehre und Macht und Stärke unserem Gott in alle Ewigkeit. Amen.
Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes — who are they, and where did they come from?”
Da nahm einer der Ältesten das Wort und sagte zu mir: Wer sind diese, die weiße Gewänder tragen, und woher sind sie gekommen?
I answered, “Sir, you know.”
And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Ich erwiderte ihm: Mein Herr, du weißt das. Und er sagte zu mir: Dies sind jene, die aus der großen Bedrängnis kommen; sie haben ihre Gewänder gewaschen und im Blut des Lammes weiß gemacht.

will shelter them with his presence.

Deshalb stehen sie vor dem Thron Gottes und dienen ihm bei Tag und Nacht in seinem Tempel; und der, der auf dem Thron sitzt, wird sein Zelt über ihnen aufschlagen.
Sie werden keinen Hunger und keinen Durst mehr leiden und weder Sonnenglut noch irgendeine sengende Hitze wird auf ihnen lasten.
Denn das Lamm in der Mitte vor dem Thron wird sie weiden und zu den Quellen führen, aus denen das Wasser des Lebens strömt, und Gott wird alle Tränen von ihren Augen abwischen.
