König David konnte in Frieden in seinem Palast wohnen, denn der HERR sorgte dafür, dass ihn die feindlichen Völker ringsum nicht angriffen.
that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.”
Eines Tages sagte David zu dem Propheten Nathan: »Während ich hier in meinem Palast aus kostbarem Zedernholz wohne, steht die Bundeslade Gottes immer noch in einem dürftigen Zelt. So kann es nicht weitergehen!«
Then Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you.”
Nathan ermutigte den König: »Was immer du vorhast — tu es! Der HERR wird dir beistehen.«
But it happened that night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,
Doch in der folgenden Nacht sprach der HERR zu Nathan:
“Go and tell My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Would you build a house for Me to dwell in?
»Geh zu David, meinem Diener, und sag ihm: ›So spricht der HERR: Du willst ein Haus für mich bauen?
For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle.
Bis heute habe ich noch nie in einem Tempel gewohnt. Seit ich mein Volk Israel aus Ägypten befreit habe, wohnte ich immer nur in einem Zelt und zog von einem Ort zum anderen.
Wherever I have moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ ” ’
Während dieser ganzen Zeit habe ich von den führenden Männern Israels nur eines verlangt: Sie sollten mein Volk weiden wie ein Hirte seine Herde. Nie habe ich einem von ihnen vorgeworfen: Warum habt ihr mir noch keinen Tempel aus Zedernholz gebaut?‹
Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.
Darum sollst du meinem Diener David diese Botschaft weitergeben: ›Der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, lässt dir sagen: Ich war es, der dich von deiner Schafherde weggeholt hat, um dich zum König über mein Volk Israel zu machen.
Was du auch unternommen hast — ich habe dir immer beigestanden. Ich habe alle deine Feinde ausgerottet und dich berühmt gemacht. Du bist in aller Welt bekannt.
Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously,
Auch habe ich meinem Volk Israel eine Heimat gegeben, ein Land, in dem es bleiben und sich niederlassen kann. Keine fremden und gottlosen Völker dürfen euch mehr so unterdrücken wie zu der Zeit,
als ich Richter über euch eingesetzt hatte. Alle deine Feinde habe ich zum Schweigen gebracht und dafür gesorgt, dass sie dich in Ruhe lassen. Ich, der HERR, sage dir: Nicht du sollst mir ein Haus bauen, sondern ich werde dir ein Haus bauen!
“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.
Wenn du alt geworden und gestorben bist, will ich einen deiner Söhne als deinen Nachfolger einsetzen und seine Herrschaft festigen.
He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
Er wird mir einen Tempel bauen, und ich werde seinem Königtum Bestand geben für alle Zeiten.
Ich will sein Vater sein, und er wird mein Sohn sein. Wenn er sich schuldig macht, werde ich ihn von Menschenhand bestrafen lassen.
But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
Doch nie werde ich meine Güte von ihm abwenden, wie ich es bei Saul getan habe. Ihn habe ich damals abgesetzt und dir an seiner Stelle die Herrschaft anvertraut.
Deine Nachkommen aber werden für alle Zeiten Könige sein. Niemand wird sie je vom Thron stoßen.‹«
According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
Nathan berichtete David alles, was Gott ihm in der Nacht gesagt hatte.
David’s Thanksgiving to God
Then King David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said: “Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

Da ging David in das heilige Zelt, kniete vor dem HERRN nieder und begann zu beten: »Gott, mein HERR, wer bin ich schon, dass du gerade mich und meine Familie so weit gebracht hast? Ich bin es nicht wert.
And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord God; and You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man, O Lord God?
Und nun willst du mir sogar noch mehr schenken, mein HERR und mein Gott! Du hast mir ein Versprechen gegeben, das bis in die ferne Zukunft reicht. So gütig bist du zu den Menschen!
Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord God, know Your servant.
Doch was soll ich weiter davon reden? HERR, du kennst mich und weißt, was in mir vorgeht.
For Your word’s sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all these great things, to make Your servant know them.
Weil du es versprochen hast und weil du es so wolltest, hast du all dies Große getan und hast es mich erkennen lassen.
HERR, mein Gott, wie mächtig bist du! Keiner ist dir gleich. Nach allem, was wir gehört haben, sind wir überzeugt: Es gibt keinen Gott außer dir.
And who is like Your people, like Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name — and to do for Yourself great and awesome deeds for Your land — before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, the nations, and their gods?
Welches Volk auf der Erde hat solche Wunder erlebt wie wir? Ist je ein anderes Volk von seinem Gott aus der Sklaverei befreit worden, weil er es zu seinem Volk machen wollte? Große und furchterregende Dinge hast du für Israel getan, und so wurde dein Name überall berühmt. Du hast uns von der Unterdrückung der Ägypter erlöst. Andere Völker und ihre Götter hast du unseretwegen vertrieben.
For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You, Lord, have become their God.
Für alle Zeiten hast du Israel zu deinem Volk gemacht; und du selbst, HERR, bist sein Gott geworden.
“Now, O Lord God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said.
So bitte ich dich nun, HERR, mein Gott: Lass deine Zusage für mich und meine Familie ewig gelten und löse dein Versprechen ein!
So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel.’ And let the house of Your servant David be established before You.
So wird dein Name für alle Zeiten berühmt sein, und man wird bekennen: ›Der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, ist Israels Gott.‹ Dann wird auch mein Königshaus ewig vor dir bestehen.
For You, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You.
Du, der allmächtige HERR und Gott Israels, hast zu mir gesprochen. Du hast mir zugesagt: ›Ich werde dir ein Haus bauen und deinem Königtum Bestand geben.‹ Nur darum habe ich es gewagt, so zu dir zu beten.
“And now, O Lord God, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant.
HERR, du bist der wahre Gott, auf dein Wort kann man sich verlassen. Du hast mir, deinem Diener, so viel Gutes verheißen.
Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever.”
Bitte segne mich und mein Haus. Lass für alle Zeiten einen meiner Nachkommen König sein. HERR, mein Gott, weil du meine Familie gesegnet hast, wird sie in Ewigkeit gesegnet sein, denn du selbst hast es mir versprochen.«
