Naboth Is Murdered for His Vineyard
And it came to pass after these things that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

König Ahab von Samaria besaß in der Stadt Jesreel einen Palast. Direkt an sein Grundstück grenzte ein Weinberg, der einem Mann aus Jesreel gehörte. Er hieß Nabot.
So Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden, because it is near, next to my house; and for it I will give you a vineyard better than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”
Eines Tages sagte der König zu Nabot: »Verkauf mir doch deinen Weinberg! Ich möchte einen Gemüsegarten anlegen, und dein Grundstück wäre am besten dafür geeignet, weil es gerade neben meinem Palast liegt. Ich gebe dir dafür einen besseren Weinberg, oder ich zahle dich aus. Was ist dir lieber?«
But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”
Doch Nabot antwortete: »Niemals verkaufe ich dir dieses Grundstück, das Erbe meiner Vorfahren! Der HERR bewahre mich davor!«
So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food.
Missmutig ging Ahab in den Palast zurück. Er war wütend, dass Nabot ihm den Weinberg nicht verkaufen wollte, nur weil es ein Erbstück seiner Vorfahren war. Vor Ärger rührte er sein Essen nicht an, sondern legte sich ins Bett und drehte sich zur Wand.
But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sullen that you eat no food?”
Seine Frau Isebel sah nach ihm und fragte: »Warum bist du so schlecht gelaunt und willst nichts essen?«
He said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”
»Weil dieser Nabot aus Jesreel mir seinen Weinberg nicht geben will!«, antwortete Ahab. »Ich wollte ihm einen ansehnlichen Betrag dafür bezahlen. Ich bot ihm auch an, den Weinberg gegen einen anderen zu tauschen, falls er das lieber möchte. Aber er lehnte stur ab.«
Then Jezebel his wife said to him, “You now exercise authority over Israel! Arise, eat food, and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”
Da antwortete Isebel: »Bist du der König von Israel oder nicht? Gut, dann steh jetzt auf, iss etwas und vergiss deinen Ärger! Du sollst deinen Weinberg haben! Ich nehme die Sache in die Hand!«
And she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and the nobles who were dwelling in the city with Naboth.
Sie schrieb im Namen des Königs einige Briefe, verschloss sie mit dem königlichen Siegel und verschickte sie an die Sippenoberhäupter und einflussreichen Männer der Stadt Jesreel.
In den Briefen stand: »Ruft einen Tag der Buße aus, an dem gefastet werden soll, und versammelt das ganze Volk! Weist Nabot einen Platz ganz vorne zu.
and seat two men, scoundrels, before him to bear witness against him, saying, “You have blasphemed God and the king.” Then take him out, and stone him, that he may die.
Sorgt aber dafür, dass zwei bestochene Zeugen in seiner Nähe sitzen. Sie sollen ihn vor aller Augen anschuldigen und rufen: ›Dieser Mann hat über Gott und den König gelästert!‹ Dann führt ihn aus der Stadt hinaus und steinigt ihn.«
So the men of his city, the elders and nobles who were inhabitants of his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them.
Die führenden Männer von Jesreel führten alles aus, was die Königin in ihrem Brief angeordnet hatte.
They proclaimed a fast, and seated Naboth with high honor among the people.
Sie riefen einen Tag der Buße aus und wiesen Nabot in der Versammlung den vordersten Platz zu.
And two men, scoundrels, came in and sat before him; and the scoundrels witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth has blasphemed God and the king!” Then they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died.
Die beiden falschen Zeugen setzten sich in seine Nähe und belasteten ihn schwer mit ihren Aussagen. »Nabot hat über Gott und den König gelästert!«, riefen sie der Menge zu. Da führte man ihn aus der Stadt hinaus und steinigte ihn.
Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned and is dead.”
Die Stadtobersten ließen Isebel ausrichten: »Nabot wurde gesteinigt. Er ist tot.«
And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, “Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.”
Kaum hatte Isebel diese Nachricht erhalten, sagte sie zu Ahab: »Der Weinberg gehört dir! Nabot aus Jesreel, der ihn um nichts in der Welt an dich verkaufen wollte, ist tot.«
So it was, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab got up and went down to take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.
Als Ahab das hörte, ging er sogleich hinaus, um den Weinberg in Besitz zu nehmen.
The Lord Condemns Ahab
Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

Da sagte der HERR zu Elia aus Tischbe:
“Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who lives in Samaria. There he is, in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to take possession of it.
»Elia, geh zu König Ahab aus Samaria. Du findest ihn in Jesreel, in Nabots Weinberg; er ist gerade dorthin gegangen, um das Grundstück in Besitz zu nehmen.
You shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Have you murdered and also taken possession?” ’ And you shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, dogs shall lick your blood, even yours.” ’ ”
Sag ihm: ›Ist es nicht schon genug, dass du gemordet hast? Musst du nun auch noch fremdes Gut rauben? Höre, was ich, der HERR, dir sage: An der Stelle, wo die Hunde das Blut von Nabot aufgeleckt haben, werden sie auch dein Blut auflecken!‹«
So Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, O my enemy?”
And he answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord:

Elia machte sich auf den Weg nach Jesreel. Als Ahab ihn sah, rief er ihm entgegen: »So, hast du mich aufgespürt, mein Feind?« »Ja«, antwortete Elia, »ich komme zu dir, weil du dich dem Bösen verschrieben hast. Höre, was der HERR dazu sagt:
‘Behold, I will bring calamity on you. I will take away your posterity, and will cut off from Ahab every male in Israel, both bond and free.
›Ich will Unheil über dich bringen und jede Erinnerung an dich auslöschen! In ganz Israel werde ich alle männlichen Nachkommen von Ahab ausrotten, ob jung oder alt.
I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and made Israel sin.’
Du hast meinen Zorn geschürt und die Israeliten zum Götzendienst verführt. Darum soll es deinen Nachkommen so schlecht ergehen wie den Nachkommen Jerobeams, des Sohnes von Nebat, und Baschas, des Sohnes von Ahija.‹
Auch über Isebel hat der HERR sein Urteil gesprochen: An der äußeren Stadtmauer von Jesreel werden die Hunde sie fressen!
The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Ahab and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field.”
Wer von Ahabs Familie in der Stadt stirbt, wird von Hunden zerrissen, und wer auf freiem Feld stirbt, über den werden die Raubvögel herfallen.«
Es gab tatsächlich keinen König, der sich in solchem Maße dem Bösen verschrieben hatte wie Ahab. Seine Frau Isebel hatte ihn dazu verführt.
And he behaved very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
Am abscheulichsten war sein Götzendienst. Er verehrte andere Götter, wie es die Amoriter getan hatten, die der HERR für die Israeliten aus dem Land vertrieben hatte.
So it was, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his body, and fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went about mourning.
Als Ahab dieses harte Urteil hörte, zerriss er entsetzt seinen Mantel. Er hüllte sich in ein Gewand aus grobem Stoff, fastete und ging bedrückt umher. Sein Bußgewand legte er nicht einmal zum Schlafen ab.
And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,
Da sagte der HERR zu Elia aus Tischbe:
“See how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity in his days. In the days of his son I will bring the calamity on his house.”
»Hast du bemerkt, wie bedrückt Ahab ist? Weil er nun endlich Reue zeigt und sich vor mir demütigt, lasse ich das Unheil noch nicht zu seinen Lebzeiten über seine Familie hereinbrechen, sondern erst, wenn sein Sohn König ist.«
