A Plea for Relief from Persecutors

A Contemplation[a] of David. A Prayer when he was in the cave.

I cry out to the Lord with my voice;
With my voice to the Lord I make my supplication.

Ein Gebet von David, zum Nachdenken. Er verfasste es, als er sich auf der Flucht vor Saul in einer Höhle versteckte.

I pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare before Him my trouble.

Ich schreie zum HERRN um Hilfe und flehe laut um sein Erbarmen.

When my spirit [b]was overwhelmed within me,
Then You knew my path.
In the way in which I walk
They have secretly set a snare for me.

Ihm klage ich meine ganze Not; ihm sage ich, was mich bedrängt.

Look on my right hand and see,
For there is no one who acknowledges me;
Refuge has failed me;
No one cares for my soul.

Wenn ich nicht mehr weiterweiß, kennst du, Gott, noch einen Ausweg. Denn wohin ich auch gehe: Überall will man mich ins Unglück stürzen.

I cried out to You, O Lord:
I said, “You are my refuge,
My portion in the land of the living.

Wohin ich auch sehe: Nirgendwo will man etwas von mir wissen. Ich finde keine Hilfe mehr, und keiner kümmert sich um mich.

[c]Attend to my cry,
For I am brought very low;
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are stronger than I.

Deshalb schreie ich zu dir, HERR! Ich bekenne: Du allein bist meine Zuflucht! Du bist alles, was ich im Leben brauche.

Bring my soul out of prison,
That I may praise Your name;
The righteous shall surround me,
For You shall deal bountifully with me.”

Höre auf meinen Hilfeschrei, denn ich bin völlig verzweifelt! Rette mich vor meinen Verfolgern, denn ich bin ihnen hilflos ausgeliefert!
