New King James Version

Darby Bible Translation

  • Praise to God for His Word and Providence

    Praise[a] the Lord!
    For it is good to sing praises to our God;
    For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.
  • It is Good to Sing Praises to Our God

    Praise ye Jah! for it is good. Sing psalms of our God; for it is pleasant: praise is comely.
  • The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
    He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
  • Jehovah doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth the outcasts of Israel.
  • He heals the brokenhearted
    And binds up their [b]wounds.
  • He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
  • He counts the number of the stars;
    He calls them all by name.
  • He counteth the number of the stars; he giveth names to them all.
  • Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
    His understanding is infinite.
  • Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
  • The Lord lifts up the humble;
    He casts the wicked down to the ground.
  • Jehovah lifteth up the meek; he abaseth the wicked to the earth.
  • Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
    Sing praises on the harp to our God,
  • Sing unto Jehovah with thanksgiving; sing psalms upon the harp unto our God:
  • Who covers the heavens with clouds,
    Who prepares rain for the earth,
    Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.
  • Who covereth the heavens with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains;
  • He gives to the beast its food,
    And to the young ravens that cry.
  • Who giveth to the cattle their food, to the young ravens which cry.
  • He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
    He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
  • He delighteth not in the strength of the horse, he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man;
  • The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
    In those who hope in His mercy.
  • Jehovah taketh pleasure in those that fear him, in those that hope in his loving-kindness.
  • Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
    Praise your God, O Zion!
  • Laud Jehovah, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
  • For He has strengthened the bars of your gates;
    He has blessed your children within you.
  • For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee;
  • He makes peace in your borders,
    And fills you with [c]the finest wheat.
  • He maketh peace in thy borders; he satisfieth thee with the finest of the wheat.
  • He sends out His command to the earth;
    His word runs very swiftly.
  • He sendeth forth his oracles to the earth: his word runneth very swiftly.
  • He gives snow like wool;
    He scatters the frost like ashes;
  • He giveth snow like wool, scattereth the hoar frost like ashes;
  • He casts out His hail like [d]morsels;
    Who can stand before His cold?
  • He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
  • He sends out His word and melts them;
    He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow.
  • He sendeth his word, and melteth them; he causeth his wind to blow -- the waters flow.
  • He declares His word to Jacob,
    His statutes and His judgments to Israel.
  • He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
  • He has not dealt thus with any nation;
    And as for His judgments, they have not known them.
    [e]Praise the Lord!
  • He hath not dealt thus with any nation; and as for [his] judgments, they have not known them. Hallelujah!
