New King James Version

New Living Translation

  • A Prayer of Faith in Time of Distress

    To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On [a]an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David.

    O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
    Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
  • For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by an eight-stringed instrument.a

    O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger
    or discipline me in your rage.
  • Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak;
    O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
  • Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak.
    Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.
  • My soul also is greatly troubled;
    But You, O Lord — how long?
  • I am sick at heart.
    How long, O LORD, until you restore me?
  • Return, O Lord, deliver me!
    Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake!
  • Return, O LORD, and rescue me.
    Save me because of your unfailing love.
  • For in death there is no remembrance of You;
    In the grave who will give You thanks?
  • For the dead do not remember you.
    Who can praise you from the grave?b
  • I am weary with my groaning;
    [b]All night I make my bed swim;
    I drench my couch with my tears.
  • I am worn out from sobbing.
    All night I flood my bed with weeping,
    drenching it with my tears.
  • My eye wastes away because of grief;
    It grows old because of all my enemies.
  • My vision is blurred by grief;
    my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.
  • Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;
    For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.
  • Go away, all you who do evil,
    for the LORD has heard my weeping.
  • The Lord has heard my supplication;
    The Lord will receive my prayer.
  • The LORD has heard my plea;
    the LORD will answer my prayer.
  • Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
    Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.
  • May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified.
    May they suddenly turn back in shame.
