    Proclamation Against Moab

    The burden[a] against Moab.
    Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste
    And destroyed,
    Because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste
    And destroyed,

    Dies ist die Last über Moab: Des Nachts kommt Verstörung über Ar in Moab; sie ist dahin. Des Nachts kommt Verstörung über Kir in Moab; sie ist dahin.

    He has gone up to the [b]temple and Dibon,
    To the high places to weep.
    Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba;
    On all their heads will be baldness,
    And every beard cut off.

    Sie gehen hinauf gen Baith und Dibon zu den Altären, daß sie weinen, und heulen über Nebo und Medeba in Moab. Aller Haupt ist kahl geschoren, aller Bart ist abgeschnitten.

    In their streets they will clothe themselves with sackcloth;
    On the tops of their houses
    And in their streets
    Everyone will wail, weeping bitterly.

    Auf ihren Gassen gehen sie mit Säcken umgürtet; auf ihren Dächern und Straßen heulen sie alle und gehen weinend herab.

    Heshbon and Elealeh will cry out,
    Their voice shall be heard as far as Jahaz;
    Therefore the [c]armed soldiers of Moab will cry out;
    His life will be burdensome to him.

    Hesbon und Eleale schreien, daß man’s zu Jahza hört. Darum wehklagen die Gerüsteten in Moab; denn es geht ihrer Seele übel.

    “My heart will cry out for Moab;
    His fugitives shall flee to Zoar,
    Like [d]a three-year-old heifer.
    For by the Ascent of Luhith
    They will go up with weeping;
    For in the way of Horonaim
    They will raise up a cry of destruction,

    Mein Herz schreit über Moab; seine Flüchtigen fliehen bis gen Zoar, bis zum dritten Eglath. Denn sie gehen gen Luhith hinan und weinen, und auf dem Wege nach Horonaim zu erhebt sich ein Jammergeschrei.

    For the waters of Nimrim will be desolate,
    For the green grass has withered away;
    The grass fails, there is nothing green.

    Denn die Wasser zu Nimrim versiegen, daß das Gras verdorrt und das Kraut verwelkt und kein Grünes wächst.

    Therefore the abundance they have gained,
    And what they have laid up,
    They will carry away to the Brook of the Willows.

    Denn das Gut, das sie gesammelt, und alles, was sie verwahrt haben, führt man über den Weidenbach.

    For the cry has gone all around the borders of Moab,
    Its wailing to Eglaim
    And its wailing to Beer Elim.

    Geschrei geht um in den Grenzen Moabs; sie heulen bis gen Eglaim und heulen bei dem Born Elim.

    For the waters of [e]Dimon will be full of blood;
    Because I will bring more upon Dimon,
    Lions upon him who escapes from Moab,
    And on the remnant of the land.”

    Denn die Wasser zu Dimon sind voll Blut. Dazu will ich über Dimon noch mehr kommen lassen, über die, so erhalten sind in Moab, einen Löwen, und über die übrigen im Lande.
