“Hear this, O house of Jacob,
Who are called by the name of Israel,
And have come forth from the wellsprings of Judah;
Who swear by the name of the Lord,

But not in truth or in righteousness;

Hört, ihr Nachkommen von Jakob aus dem Stamm Juda! Ihr tragt den Ehrennamen »Israel«. Wenn ihr einen Eid ablegt, dann schwört ihr beim Namen des HERRN. Ihr bekennt euch zu Israels Gott, aber ihr meint es nicht ehrlich und haltet ihm nicht die Treue.

Ihr seid stolz auf Jerusalem, eure Heilige Stadt, und ihr beruft euch auf den Gott Israels. »Der HERR, der allmächtige Gott« — so wird er genannt. Hört jetzt, was er zu sagen hat:

»Was früher geschah, hatte ich lange im Voraus verkündet. Ich machte kein Geheimnis aus meinen Plänen. Dann war es plötzlich so weit: Ich ließ alles so eintreffen, wie ich es gesagt hatte.
Ich kenne euch doch und weiß, wie starrköpfig ihr seid! Unbeugsam seid ihr, als wäre euer Nacken aus Eisen; euer Schädel ist hart wie Stein!

Darum habe ich euch schon vorher wissen lassen, was ich tun würde; ihr habt davon gehört, bevor es geschah, damit ihr nicht behauptet: ›Das war unser Götze! Die Statue unseres Gottes hat es so gefügt.‹

Ihr habt also davon gehört, und es ist eingetroffen. Schaut euch nur um! Warum wollt ihr es nicht zugeben? Doch von heute an will ich etwas Neues ankündigen, etwas, das ihr noch nicht wisst, weil ich es bisher geheim gehalten habe.

Ich habe es nicht schon vor vielen Jahren geschehen lassen, sondern gerade jetzt. Ihr habt noch nie davon gehört! Darum könnt ihr auch nicht behaupten: ›Das haben wir schon lange gewusst!‹

Nein, davon ist euch bisher noch nichts zu Ohren gekommen, ihr könnt es nicht wissen. Ich habe absichtlich geschwiegen, denn ich wusste, wie treulos ihr seid. Nicht umsonst nennt man euch ›das Volk, das sich von Anfang an gegen seinen Gott aufgelehnt hat‹.
Damit mein Name weiter gepriesen wird, halte ich meinen Zorn zurück. Ich beherrsche mich und vernichte euch nicht, denn meine Ehre steht auf dem Spiel.

Doch bestrafen musste ich euch. Wie ein Silberschmied bin ich mit euch umgegangen: Er schmilzt das Silber im Feuer, um es von allen Schlacken zu reinigen. So habe ich euch in den Schmelzofen des Elends geworfen.

God’s Ancient Plan to Redeem Israel

»Hört mir zu, ihr Nachkommen von Jakob, mein auserwähltes Volk Israel: Ich bin Gott. Ich bin der Erste und der Letzte.

And My right hand has stretched out the heavens;

They stand up together.

Ich habe mit eigener Hand die Fundamente der Erde gelegt und den Himmel ausgespannt. Nur ein Wort von mir — und alles stand an seinem Platz.

Versammelt euch und hört mir zu! Der Mann, den ich liebe, wird mein Urteil an Babylonien vollstrecken. Mit meiner Hilfe wird er das Heer der Chaldäer besiegen. Hat etwa einer der Götter dies schon angekündigt?

Nein, nur ich habe es gesagt. Ich habe diesen Mann gerufen und ihn auf den Weg geschickt. Sein Plan wird gelingen.
Kommt her und hört zu: Von Anfang an habe ich kein Geheimnis aus meinem Vorhaben gemacht. Jetzt führe ich es aus und halte die Fäden in der Hand.« Und nun hat Gott, der HERR, mich gesandt und mir seinen Geist gegeben.

So spricht der HERR, euer Erlöser, der heilige Gott Israels: »Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott. Ich lehre euch, was gut für euch ist, und zeige euch den Weg, den ihr gehen sollt.

Ach, hättet ihr doch meine Gebote befolgt! Dann wäre euer Friede wie ein Strom, der nie versiegt. Euer Glück würde sich ausbreiten wie die Meereswellen.

Nor destroyed from before Me.”

Unzählbar wären eure Nachkommen, so wie der Sand am Meer. Nie würde ich sie verstoßen oder vernichten.

Schnell, verlasst Babylonien, ihr Israeliten, flieht aus dem Land der Chaldäer! Singt und jubelt vor Freude! Die ganze Welt soll hören, was geschehen ist. Erzählt es überall: ›Der HERR hat Israel, das Volk, das ihm dient, befreit!
