Judgment on Ammon

Against the Ammonites.
Thus says the Lord:
“Has Israel no sons?
Has he no heir?
Why then does [a]Milcom inherit Gad,
And his people dwell in its cities?

На Аммонових синів. „Так говорить Господь: Чи немає синів у Ізраїля? Чи немає спадкоє́мця в нього? Чому Ґада Мілком одіди́чив й осівся наро́д його по містах його?

2

Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,
“That I will cause to be heard an alarm of war
In Rabbah of the Ammonites;
It shall be a desolate mound,
And her [b]villages shall be burned with fire.
Then Israel shall take possession of his inheritance,” says the Lord.

Тому́ настаю́ть ось дні, — говорить Господь, — і Я розголошу́ крик військо́вий на Раббу Аммонових синів, — і вона стане за купу руїн, а підлеглі міста її спа́лені будуть огнем, і знов одіди́чить Ізраїль спа́док сві́й, говорить Господь.

“Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is plundered!
Cry, you daughters of Rabbah,
Gird yourselves with sackcloth!
Lament and run to and fro by the walls;
For [c]Milcom shall go into captivity
With his priests and his princes together.

Ридай, о Хешбо́не, бо місто зруйноване! Кричіть, до́чки Рабби, опережі́ться вере́тою, лементу́йте й блукайте по обійстя́х, бо Мілком до поло́ну іде, його священики й його зверхники ра́зом!

4

Why do you boast in the valleys,
[d]Your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter?
Who trusted in her treasures, saying,
‘Who will come against me?’

Чого ти долинами хва́лишся? Долина твоя розпливається кров'ю, о до́чко невірна, що на скарби свої покладаєш надію та кажеш: „Хто при́йде до мене?“

5

Behold, I will bring fear upon you,”
Says the Lord God of hosts,
“From all those who are around you;
You shall be driven out, everyone headlong,
And no one will gather those who wander off.

Ось Я страх припрова́джу на тебе, — говорить Господь, Бог Саваот, — із усього довкі́лля твого, і ви повтікаєте кожен напе́ред себе, — і не буде кому втікачів позбира́ти!

But afterward I will bring back
The captives of the people of Ammon,” says the Lord.

А потім верну́ Я долю Аммонових синів, говорить Господь“.

Judgment on Edom

Against Edom.
Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“Is wisdom no more in Teman?
Has counsel perished from the prudent?
Has their wisdom vanished?

На Едома. „Так говорить Господь Саваот: Чи в Темані немає вже мудрости? Чи згинула рада розумних? Хіба зіпсувалась їхня мудрість?

8

Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Dedan!
For I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him,
The time that I will punish him.

Утікайте, оберні́ться плечи́ма, сядьте глибше, мешка́нці Дедану, бо привів Я нещастя Ісава на нього, — той час, коли покараю його!

9

If grape-gatherers came to you,
Would they not leave some gleaning grapes?
If thieves by night,
Would they not destroy until they have enough?

Якщо при́йдуть до тебе збирачі́ винограду, вони не полишать останків, якщо ж при́йдуть злоді́ї вночі, напсую́ть, скільки схо́чуть.

10

But I have made Esau bare;
I have uncovered his secret places,
And he shall not be able to hide himself.
His descendants are plundered,
His brethren and his neighbors,
And he is no more.

10

Бо обнажи́в Я Ісава, повідкривав усі криївки його, і він сховатись не зможе, — спусто́шене буде насіння його, й його браття, і сусіди його, — і не буде його!

11

Leave your fatherless children,
I will preserve them alive;
And let your widows trust in Me.”

Залиши́ свої си́роти, — Я утри́маю їх при житті, а вдови твої хай наді́ю на Мене кладу́ть!

12

For thus says the Lord: “Behold, those whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunk. And are you the one who will altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink of it.

Бо так промовляє Господь: Ось і ті, що не мали б пити чаші ціє́ї, пити будуть напе́вне, а ти непока́раним будеш? Не будеш без кари, бо справді ти пи́тимеш чашу!

13

For I have sworn by Myself,” says the Lord, “that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a [e]waste, and a curse. And all its cities shall be perpetual [f]wastes.”

Бо Собою присяг Я, — говорить Господь, — що Боцра́ за спусто́шення стане, за га́ньбу, пустиню й прокляття, і руїнами вічними стануть міста́ її всі!

14

I have heard a message from the Lord,
And an ambassador has been sent to the nations:
“Gather together, come against her,
And rise up to battle!

Я звістку від Господа чув, і відправлений ві́сник між люди: Зберіться й прийдіть проти неї, і встаньте на бій,

15

“For indeed, I will make you small among nations,
Despised among men.

15

бо тебе Я зробив ось мали́м між наро́дами, погордженим серед людей!

16

Your fierceness has deceived you,
The pride of your heart,
O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock,
Who hold the height of the hill!
Though you make your nest as high as the eagle,
I will bring you down from there,” says the Lord.

Страхіття твоє обманило тебе й гордість серця твого, тебе, що в розщі́линах скелі живеш, що високих підгі́рків тримаєшся. Та коли б ти кубло́ своє й ви́соко звив, мов орел, то й ізвідти Я скину тебе, промовляє Господь.

17

“Edom also shall be an astonishment;
Everyone who goes by it will be astonished
And will hiss at all its plagues.

17

І стане Едо́м за страхі́ття, — кожен, хто буде прохо́дити ним, остовпі́є й засвище, як пора́зи його всі побачить.

18

As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah
And their neighbors,” says the Lord,
“No one shall remain there,
Nor shall a son of man dwell in it.

18

Як Содо́м та Гомо́рру й сусідів її поруйно́вано, каже Господь, — так ніхто там не буде сидіти, і не буде в нім ме́шкати чужи́нцем син лю́дський.

19

“Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the [g]floodplain of the Jordan
Against the dwelling place of the strong;
But I will suddenly make him run away from her.
And who is a chosen man that I may appoint over her?
For who is like Me?
Who will arraign Me?
And who is that shepherd
Who will withstand Me?”

Ось піді́йметься він, немов лев, із темного лісу Йорда́ну на во́дяні луки, і Я вмент зроблю́, що він побіжить геть від них, а хто ви́браний буде, того Я поставлю над ними. Бо хто є подібний Мені, і хто покличе Мене перед суд, і хто па́стир такий, що перед обличчям Моїм устоїть?

20

Therefore hear the counsel of the Lord that He has taken against Edom,
And His purposes that He has proposed against the inhabitants of Teman:
Surely the least of the flock shall [h]draw them out;
Surely He shall make their dwelling places desolate with them.

20

Тому то послухайте за́дум Господній, що Він на Едома заду́мав, і думки́ Його ті, які Він на мешка́нців Теману замислив: Направду, — найменших з отари потя́гнуть, і попусто́шать пасо́висько їхнє при них!

21

The earth shakes at the noise of their fall;
At the cry its noise is heard at the Red Sea.

21

Від гуку упадку їхнього буде тремтіти земля, буде зойк, аж на морі Червоному чути їхній голос.

22

Behold, He shall come up and fly like the eagle,
And spread His wings over Bozrah;
The heart of the mighty men of Edom in that day shall be
Like the heart of a woman in birth pangs.

Ось піді́йметься він, як орел, і літатиме, й крила свої над Боцро́ю розго́рне: і стане серце хоробрих едо́млян в той день, немов серце жони-породі́ллі“.

Judgment on Damascus

Against Damascus.
“Hamath and Arpad are shamed,
For they have heard bad news.
They are fainthearted;
There is [i]trouble on the sea;
It cannot be quiet.

На Дамаск. „Засоро́мивсь Хамаш та Арпал, бо злу звістку почули; в неспоко́ї тривожнім вони, як те море, що не може вспоко́їтись.

24

Damascus has grown feeble;
She turns to flee,
And fear has seized her.
Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in [j]labor.

Дама́ск сторопі́в, обернувся втікати, і страх його міцно охопи́в, біль та му́ки його обгорну́ли, немов породі́ллю.

25

Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy?

25

Як спорожні́ло славне це місто, місто вті́хи Моєї!

26

Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets,
And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts.

26

Тому́ юнаки́ його падати будуть на пло́щах його, і всі військо́ві погинуть того дня, говорить Господь Саваот.

27

“I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus,
And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.”

27

І під муром Дама́ску огонь запалю́, і він пожере Бен-Гада́дські пала́ци!“

28

Judgment on Kedar and Hazor

Against Kedar and against the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon shall strike.
Thus says the Lord:
“Arise, go up to Kedar,
And devastate the men of the East!

На Кедар та на царства Хацору, що їх побив Навуходоносор, цар вавилонський. „Так говорить Господь: Уставайте, ідіть на Кеда́р, і нехай попусто́шать війська́ синів сходу!

29

Their tents and their flocks they shall take away.
They shall take for themselves their curtains,
All their vessels and their camels;
And they shall cry out to them,
‘Fear is on every side!’

29

Заберуть їхні наме́ти та їхню отару, їхні покро́ви та всі їхні речі, та їхніх верблю́дів собі заберуть, і над ними кричатимуть: Жах звідусі́ль!

30

“Flee, get far away! Dwell in the depths,
O inhabitants of Hazor!” says the Lord.
“For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you,
And has conceived a plan against you.

30

Утікайте, мандруйте скоріш, сховайтесь в глибоке, мешка́нці Хацору, — говорить Господь, — бо раду нарадив на вас Навуходоно́сор, цар вавилонський, і за́дум заду́мав на вас!

31

“Arise, go up to the wealthy nation that dwells securely,” says the Lord,
“Which has neither gates nor bars,
Dwelling alone.

31

Уставайте, ідіть на наро́д, що спокійно, безпечно живе, — промовляє Господь, — немає воріт, і нема в нього за́сувів, самітно живуть.

32

Their camels shall be for booty,
And the multitude of their cattle for plunder.
I will scatter to all winds those [k]in the farthest corners,
And I will bring their calamity from all its sides,” says the Lord.

32

І стануть верблю́ди їхні здо́биччю, а їхні череда́ — грабеже́м, і на всі ві́три розвію Я їх, хто воло́сся довко́ла стриже, і зо всіх їхніх сторін припрова́джу на них їхню поги́біль, говорить Господь.

33

“Hazor shall be a dwelling for jackals, a desolation forever;
No one shall reside there,
Nor son of man dwell in it.”

33

І стане Хацо́р за мешка́ння шака́лів, за вічне спусто́шення, — не заме́шкає там люди́на, і син лю́дський не спи́ниться в ньо́му!“

34

Judgment on Elam

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

Слово Господнє, що було пророкові Єремії на Елам на початку царюва́ння Седекії, Юдиного царя, таке:

35

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, I will break the [l]bow of Elam,
The foremost of their might.

35

„Так говорить Госпо́дь Савао́т: Ось Я злама́ю ела́мського лука, головну́ їхню силу!

36

Against Elam I will bring the four winds
From the four quarters of heaven,
And scatter them toward all those winds;
There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go.

36

І з чотирьо́х кінців неба спрова́джу чотири вітри́ до Еламу, і їх розпоро́шу на всі ці вітри́, і не бу́де такого наро́ду, куди б не прийшли ці вигна́нці з Ела́му.

37

For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies
And before those who seek their life.
I will bring disaster upon them,
My fierce anger,’ says the Lord;
‘And I will send the sword after them
Until I have consumed them.

37

І настра́шу Ела́м перед їхніми ворога́ми та перед всіма́, хто їхню душу шукає, і лихо на них наведу́, лютість гніву Мого, говорить Господь, — і пошлю́ Я за ними меча, аж поки не ви́гублю їх!

38

I will set My throne in Elam,
And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.

38

І поставлю Престо́ла Свого в Еламі, і ви́гублю звідти царя й його зверхників, каже Господь.

39

‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days:
I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.”

39

Але бу́де напри́кінці днів, поверну́ Я Ела́мові долю, говорить Господь“.
