Proclamation Against the King of Tyre

The word of the Lord came to me again, saying,

І було́ мені слово Господнє таке:

“Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“Because your heart is lifted[a] up,
And you say, ‘I am a god,
I sit in the seat of gods,
In the midst of the seas,’
Yet you are a man, and not a god,
Though you set your heart as the heart of a god

„Сину лю́дський, скажи кня́зеві Тиру: Так говорить Господь Бог: за те, що пови́щилось серце твоє й ти сказав: „Я Бог, сиджу́ на Божому престолі в серці морі́в“, а ти тільки люди́на, а не Бог, хоч ставив своє серце нарівні з серцем Божим.

(Behold, you are wiser than Daniel!
There is no secret that can be hidden from you!

Ось ти мудріший від Даниї́ла, — кожен мудрець не прилу́читься до тебе.

4

With your wisdom and your understanding
You have gained riches for yourself,
And gathered gold and silver into your treasuries;

Своєю мудрістю та своїм розумом набув ти собі багатство, і назгрома́див золота та срібла в скарбни́цях своїх.

5

By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your riches,
And your heart is lifted up because of your riches),”

5

Великою своєю мудрістю та торгівлею своєю помно́жив ти багатство своє, і пови́щилось твоє серце багатством своїм!

‘Therefore thus says the Lord God:
“Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god,

Тому так говорить Господь Бог: За те, що ти ставиш своє серце нарівні з серцем Божим,

7

Behold, therefore, I will bring strangers against you,
The most terrible of the nations;
And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom,
And defile your splendor.

тому ось Я спрова́джу на тебе чужих, насильників поміж наро́дами, і вони повитяга́ють мечі свої на красу́ твоєї мудрости, і знева́жать красу́ твою.

8

They shall throw you down into the Pit,
And you shall die the death of the slain
In the midst of the seas.

8

Вони скинуть тебе в могилу, і помреш ти смертю пробитого в серці морів.

9

“Will you still say before him who slays you,
‘I am a god’?
But you shall be a man, and not a god,
In the hand of him who slays you.

Чи справді ти скажеш: „Я бог!“ перед уби́вником своїм, а ти ж тільки люди́на, а не Бог, у руці тих, що зневажа́ють тебе?

10

You shall die the death of the uncircumcised
By the hand of aliens;
For I have spoken,” says the Lord God.’ ”

10

Ти помреш смертю необрі́занців, від руки чужих, бо Я це сказав, говорить Господь Бог!“

Lamentation for the King of Tyre

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

І було мені слово Господнє таке:

“Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“You were the seal of perfection,
Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

„Сину лю́дський, здійми жало́бну пісню на ти́рського царя, та й скажеш йому: Так говорить Господь Бог: Ти печать доскона́лости, повен мудрости, і корона краси́.

13

You were in Eden, the garden of God;
Every precious stone was your covering:
The sardius, topaz, and diamond,
Beryl, onyx, and jasper,
Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold.
The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes
Was prepared for you on the day you were created.

Ти пробува́в ув Еде́ні, садку́ Божому: усякий дорогий камінь — на одежі твоїй: карнео́ль, топа́з і я́спіс, хризолі́т, сога́м, і о́нікс, сапфі́р, рубі́н і смара́гд, і золото; знаряддя бубнів твоїх та сопі́лок твоїх були́ в тебе ще дня, коли був ти ство́рений, були вони нагото́влені.

“You were the anointed cherub who covers;
I established you;
You were on the holy mountain of God;
You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.

Ти пома́заний Херувим хорони́тель, і Я дав тебе на святу го́ру Божу, ти ходив посеред огни́стого камі́ння.

15

You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created,
Till iniquity was found in you.

15

Ти був бездога́нний у своїх дорогах від дня твого ство́рення, аж поки не знайшлася на тобі несправедливість.

16

“By the abundance of your trading
You became filled with violence within,
And you sinned;
Therefore I cast you as a profane thing
Out of the mountain of God;
And I destroyed you, O covering cherub,
From the midst of the fiery stones.

Через велику торгі́влю твою твоє нутро́ перепо́внилось наси́ллям, і ти прогрішив. Тому́ Я знева́жив тебе, щоб не був ти на Божій горі, і погубив тебе, хорони́телю Херуви́ме, з сере́дини огни́стого камі́ння.

17

“Your heart was [b]lifted up because of your beauty;
You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor;
I cast you to the ground,
I laid you before kings,
That they might gaze at you.

Стало високим твоє серце через красу́ твою, ти занапасти́в свою мудрість через свою красу́. Кинув Я тебе на землю, дав тебе перед царями, щоб дивились на тебе.

18

“You defiled your sanctuaries
By the multitude of your iniquities,
By the iniquity of your trading;
Therefore I brought fire from your midst;
It devoured you,
And I turned you to ashes upon the earth
In the sight of all who saw you.

Многото́ю провин своїх, через кривду торгі́влі своєї зневажив ти святині свої. І вивів Я огонь з твоєї сере́дини, і він поже́р тебе, і Я зробив тебе по́пелом на землі на оча́х усіх, хто бачить тебе.

19

All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you;
You have become a horror,
And shall be no more forever.” ’ ”

19

Усі, хто знає тебе серед народів, остовпіють над тобою; ти по́страхом станеш, і не буде тебе аж навіки!“

20

Proclamation Against Sidon

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

20

І було мені слово Господнє таке:

21

“Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, and prophesy against her,

21

„Сину лю́дський, зверни своє обличчя до Сидо́ну, і пророку́й на нього,

22

and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, I am against you, O Sidon;
I will be glorified in your midst;
And they shall know that I am the Lord,
When I execute judgments in her and am hallowed in her.

та й скажеш: так говорить Господь Бог: Ось Я на тебе, Сидо́не, і буду шано́ваний серед тебе, і пізнають, що Я — Господь, коли робитиму на нього при́суди, і коли покажу́ Свою святість серед нього.

23

For I will send pestilence upon her,
And blood in her streets;
The wounded shall be judged in her midst
By the sword against her on every side;
Then they shall know that I am the Lord.

23

І пошлю на нього морови́цю та кров на його вулиці, і впаде́ серед нього пробитий, що при́йде на нього знавко́ла, і пізнають, що Я — Госпо́дь.

24

“And there shall no longer be a pricking brier or a painful thorn for the house of Israel from among all who are around them, who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord God.”

24

І не буде вже для Ізраїлевого дому колю́чої терни́ни та будя́ччя, що прино́сить біль зо всіх їхніх око́лиць, що пого́рджують ними, і пізнають вони, що Я — Господь Бог.

25

Israel’s Future Blessing

‘Thus says the Lord God: “When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob.

25

Так говорить Господь Бог: Коли Я позбираю Ізраїлів дім із наро́дів, між якими вони розпоро́шені, то Я покажу́ на ньому Свою святість на оча́х наро́дів, і вони осядуть на землі своїй, яку Я дав Своєму рабові Якову.

26

And they will dwell [c]safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God.” ’ ”

26

І осядуть вони на ній безпе́чно, і будува́тимуть доми́ та садитимуть виноградники, і будуть сидіти безпечно, коли Я чинитиму при́суди на всіх тих, що пого́рджують ними з їхнього довкі́лля. І пізнають вони, що Я — Господь, їхній Бог!“
