    Jerusalem, Holy City of the Future

    Again the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying,

    Wieder empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN, dem allmächtigen Gott. Er sprach zu mir:

    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘I am [a]zealous for Zion with great [b]zeal;
    With great [c]fervor I am zealous for her.’

    »Meine Liebe zu Zion ist ungebrochen; voller Leidenschaft setze ich mich für die Stadt ein und verfolge ihre Feinde mit glühendem Zorn. Darauf gebe ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, mein Wort.

    “Thus says the Lord:
    ‘I will return to Zion,
    And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
    Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth,
    The Mountain of the Lord of hosts,
    The Holy Mountain.’

    Ich verspreche euch: Ich kehre auf den Berg Zion zurück und wohne wieder mitten in Jerusalem. Dann wird Jerusalem ›die Stadt der Treue‹ heißen und der Berg, auf dem mein Tempel steht, ›der heilige Berg‹.

    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘Old men and old women shall again sit
    In the streets of Jerusalem,
    Each one with his staff in his hand
    Because of [d]great age.

    Ja, lasst es euch gesagt sein: Auf den Plätzen der Stadt werden wieder alte Menschen sitzen, die beim Gehen den Stock zu Hilfe nehmen müssen,

    The streets of the city
    Shall be full of boys and girls
    Playing in its streets.’

    und die Straßen werden voll sein von spielenden Kindern.
  • 6
    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘If it is [e]marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days,
    Will it also be marvelous in My eyes?’
    Says the Lord of hosts.

    Ihr meint, dies sei unmöglich? Doch ich sage euch, dem Rest meines Volkes: Für mich ist es keineswegs unmöglich, denn ich bin der HERR, der allmächtige Gott!

    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘Behold, I will save My people from the land of the [f]east
    And from the land of the [g]west;

    Ihr werdet sehen: Ich rette die Menschen, die zu meinem Volk gehören; aus der ganzen Welt, vom Osten und vom Westen, hole ich sie
  • 8
    I will bring them back,
    And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
    They shall be My people
    And I will be their God,
    In truth and righteousness.’

    und bringe sie nach Jerusalem zurück. Dort sollen sie dann wohnen. Sie werden mein Volk sein, und ich werde ihr Gott sein. Treu und gerecht will ich zu ihnen stehen!

    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘Let your hands be strong,
    You who have been hearing in these days
    These words by the mouth of the prophets,
    Who spoke in the day the foundation was laid
    For the house of the Lord of hosts,
    That the temple might be built.

    Ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, fordere euch auf: Fasst neuen Mut! Auch für euch heute gilt, was die Propheten verkündeten, als der Grundstein für den neuen Tempel gelegt wurde.

    For before these days
    There were no wages for man nor any hire for beast;
    There was no peace from the enemy for whoever went out or came in;
    For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.

    Bis dahin brachte eure Arbeit keinen Ertrag. Weder Mensch noch Vieh bekamen den Lohn für ihre Mühe. Wer die Stadt verließ, war nicht sicher vor dem Feind, ja, ich hetzte die Menschen gegeneinander auf.

    But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ says the Lord of hosts.

    Doch von jetzt an will ich mit euch, die ihr von meinem Volk noch übrig geblieben seid, ganz anders umgehen. Das sage ich, der HERR!
  • 12
    ‘For the [h]seed shall be prosperous,
    The vine shall give its fruit,
    The ground shall give her increase,
    And the heavens shall give their dew —
    I will cause the remnant of this people
    To possess all these.

    In eurem Land wird Frieden herrschen, die Weinstöcke und Felder bringen reichen Ertrag, und genug Regen fällt auf das Land. Euch, den Überlebenden meines Volkes, soll dies alles zugutekommen.

    And it shall come to pass
    That just as you were a curse among the nations,
    O house of Judah and house of Israel,
    So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing.
    Do not fear,
    Let your hands be strong.’

    Ihr Menschen von Israel und Juda: Wenn die Bewohner anderer Länder jemanden verfluchen wollten, dann wünschten sie ihm dasselbe Schicksal, das euch getroffen hatte. Doch das wird sich jetzt ändern. Ich wende euer Schicksal zum Guten, und dann wird der Segen, den ihr erlebt, bei den anderen Völkern sprichwörtlich sein. Darum habt keine Angst und fasst neuen Mut!

    “For thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘Just as I determined to [i]punish you
    When your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’
    Says the Lord of hosts,
    ‘And I would not relent,

    Ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, sage euch: Als eure Vorfahren meinen Zorn herausforderten, beschloss ich, Unheil über sie zu bringen, und nichts konnte mich umstimmen.

    So again in these days
    I am determined to do good
    To Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
    Do not fear.

    Genauso fest bin ich jetzt entschlossen, den Bewohnern von Jerusalem und Juda Gutes zu tun. Habt also keine Angst!

    These are the things you shall do:
    Speak each man the truth to his neighbor;
    Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace;

    Haltet euch jedoch an das, was ich von euch erwarte: Sagt einander die Wahrheit! Fällt im Gericht Urteile, die gerecht sind und Frieden stiften!

    Let none of you think evil in [j]your heart against your neighbor;
    And do not love a false oath.
    For all these are things that I hate,’
    Says the Lord.”

    Seid nicht darauf aus, einander zu schaden, und schwört keine Meineide! Denn das hasse ich, der HERR!«
  • 18
    Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying,
  • 18
    Weiter sprach der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, zu mir:
  • 19
    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘The fast of the fourth month,
    The fast of the fifth,
    The fast of the seventh,
    And the fast of the tenth,
    Shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts
    For the house of Judah.
    Therefore love truth and peace.’

    »Hört, was ich, der HERR, euch sage: Bisher habt ihr Judäer im 4., 5., 7. und 10. Monat Fastentage eingehalten und getrauert. Doch von nun an werdet ihr an diesen Tagen Freudenfeste feiern und laut jubeln. Darum liebt die Wahrheit und den Frieden!

    “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
    ‘Peoples shall yet come,
    Inhabitants of many cities;

    Ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, kündige euch an: Es kommt die Zeit, da werden Menschen aus vielen Städten und Völkern
  • 21
    The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying,
    “Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord,
    And seek the Lord of hosts.
    I myself will go also.”

    einander auffordern: ›Kommt, wir wollen nach Jerusalem gehen und den HERRN, den allmächtigen Gott, anbeten und um seinen Segen bitten.‹
  • 22
    Yes, many peoples and strong nations
    Shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem,
    And to pray before the Lord.’

    Ja, viele mächtige Völker werden nach Jerusalem ziehen, um mich gnädig zu stimmen und meine Nähe zu suchen!

    “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the [k]sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ”

    Ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, sage euch: In jener Zeit werden sich zehn Männer aus den verschiedensten Ländern einem Juden anschließen wollen. Sie werden ihn an seinem Gewand festhalten und bitten: ›Lass uns doch mit dir gehen, denn wir haben gehört, dass Gott auf eurer Seite ist.‹«
