New King James Version

King James Bible

  • Jesus Transfigured on the Mount

    Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;
  • The Transfiguration

And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
  • and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
  • And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
  • And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
  • And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
  • Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, [a]let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
  • Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
  • While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”
  • While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
  • And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.
  • And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
  • But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.”
  • And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
  • When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
  • And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
  • Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.”
  • And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
  • And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
  • And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
  • Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming [b]first and will restore all things.
  • And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
  • But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.”
  • But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
  • Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
  • Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
  • A Boy Is Healed

And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying,
  • Jesus Heals a Boy with a Demon

And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
  • “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is [c]an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
  • Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
  • So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
  • And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
  • Then Jesus answered and said, “O [d]faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
  • Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
  • And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
  • And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
  • Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
  • Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
  • So Jesus said to them, “Because of your [e]unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
  • And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
