Assurance of the Resurrection

For we know that if our earthly [a]house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Wir wissen: Wenn unser irdisches Zelt abgebrochen wird, dann haben wir eine Wohnung von Gott, ein nicht von Menschenhand errichtetes ewiges Haus im Himmel.

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our [b]habitation which is from heaven,

Im gegenwärtigen Zustand seufzen wir und sehnen uns danach, mit dem himmlischen Haus überkleidet zu werden.

if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.

So bekleidet, werden wir nicht nackt erscheinen.

For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.

Solange wir nämlich in diesem Zelt leben, seufzen wir unter schwerem Druck, weil wir nicht entkleidet, sondern überkleidet werden möchten, damit so das Sterbliche vom Leben verschlungen werde.

Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as [c]a guarantee.

Gott aber, der uns gerade dazu fähig gemacht hat, er hat uns auch als ersten Anteil den Geist gegeben.

So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.

Wir sind also immer zuversichtlich, auch wenn wir wissen, dass wir fern vom Herrn in der Fremde leben, solange wir in diesem Leib zu Hause sind;

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

denn als Glaubende gehen wir unseren Weg, nicht als Schauende.

We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Weil wir aber zuversichtlich sind, ziehen wir es vor, aus dem Leib auszuwandern und daheim beim Herrn zu sein.

The Judgment Seat of Christ

Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.

Deswegen suchen wir unsere Ehre darin, ihm zu gefallen, ob wir daheim oder in der Fremde sind.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Denn wir alle müssen vor dem Richterstuhl Christi offenbar werden, damit jeder seinen Lohn empfängt für das Gute oder Böse, das er im irdischen Leben getan hat.

Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

So versuchen wir, erfüllt von der Furcht des Herrn, Menschen zu gewinnen; vor Gott stehen wir offen da. Ich hoffe, dass wir auch vor eurem Gewissen offen dastehen.

Be Reconciled to God

For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart.

Damit wollen wir uns euch nicht wieder empfehlen, sondern wir geben euch Gelegenheit, rühmend auf uns hinzuweisen, damit ihr denen entgegentreten könnt, die sich äußerlich, nicht im Herzen rühmen.

For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you.

Wenn wir nämlich von Sinnen waren, so geschah es für Gott; wenn wir besonnen sind, geschieht es für euch.

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;

Denn die Liebe Christi drängt uns, da wir erkannt haben: Einer ist für alle gestorben, also sind alle gestorben.

and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

Er ist aber für alle gestorben, damit die Lebenden nicht mehr für sich leben, sondern für den, der für sie starb und auferweckt wurde.

Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.

Also kennen wir von jetzt an niemanden mehr dem Fleische nach; auch wenn wir früher Christus dem Fleische nach gekannt haben, jetzt kennen wir ihn nicht mehr so.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Wenn also jemand in Christus ist, dann ist er eine neue Schöpfung: Das Alte ist vergangen, siehe, Neues ist geworden.

Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

Aber das alles kommt von Gott, der uns durch Christus mit sich versöhnt und uns den Dienst der Versöhnung aufgetragen hat.

that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [d]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Ja, Gott war es, der in Christus die Welt mit sich versöhnt hat, indem er ihnen ihre Verfehlungen nicht anrechnete und unter uns das Wort von der Versöhnung aufgerichtet hat.

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

Wir sind also Gesandte an Christi statt und Gott ist es, der durch uns mahnt. Wir bitten an Christi statt: Lasst euch mit Gott versöhnen!

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Er hat den, der keine Sünde kannte, für uns zur Sünde gemacht, damit wir in ihm Gerechtigkeit Gottes würden.
