David Spares Saul a Second Time
Now the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is David not hiding in the hill of Hachilah, opposite Jeshimon?”
Now the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is David not hiding in the hill of Hachilah, opposite Jeshimon?”
Die Sifiter kamen zu Saul nach Gibea und sagten: David hält sich auf der Anhöhe von Hachila gegenüber von Jeschimon auf.
Then Saul arose and went down to the Wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the Wilderness of Ziph.

And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which is opposite Jeshimon, by the road. But David stayed in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.

David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul had indeed come.

So David arose and came to the place where Saul had encamped. And David saw the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the commander of his army. Now Saul lay within the camp, with the people encamped all around him.
Er brach auf und kam zu dem Ort, wo Saul sein Lager hatte. Und David konnte die Stelle sehen, wo Saul sich mit seinem Heerführer Abner, dem Sohn Ners, zur Ruhe hingelegt hatte: Saul schlief mitten im Lager, während seine Leute rings um ihn herum lagen.
Then David answered, and said to Ahimelech the Hittite and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother of Joab, saying, “Who will go down with me to Saul in the camp?”
And Abishai said, “I will go down with you.”
And Abishai said, “I will go down with you.”
Da wandte sich David an den Hetiter Ahimelech und an Abischai, den Sohn der Zeruja, den Bruder Joabs, und sagte: Wer geht mit mir zu Saul ins Lager hinab? Abischai antwortete: Ich gehe mit.
So David and Abishai came to the people by night; and there Saul lay sleeping within the camp, with his spear stuck in the ground by his head. And Abner and the people lay all around him.
So kamen David und Abischai in der Nacht zu den Leuten und siehe, Saul lag mitten im Lager und schlief; sein Speer steckte neben seinem Kopf in der Erde und rings um ihn schliefen Abner und seine Leute.
Da sagte Abischai zu David: Heute hat Gott deinen Feind in deine Hand ausgeliefert. Jetzt werde ich ihn mit einem einzigen Speerstoß auf den Boden spießen, einen zweiten brauche ich nicht dafür.
But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?”
David aber erwiderte Abischai: Bring ihn nicht um! Denn wer hat je seine Hand gegen den Gesalbten des HERRN erhoben und ist ungestraft geblieben?
David said furthermore, “As the Lord lives, the Lord shall strike him, or his day shall come to die, or he shall go out to battle and perish.
Und er fügte hinzu: So wahr der HERR lebt: Der HERR möge ihn schlagen, ob nun der Tag kommt, an dem er sterben muss, oder ob er in den Krieg zieht und dort umkommt.
The Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed. But please, take now the spear and the jug of water that are by his head, and let us go.”
Mich aber bewahre der HERR davor, dass ich meine Hand gegen den Gesalbten des HERRN erhebe. Nimm jetzt den Speer neben seinem Kopf und den Wasserkrug und lass uns gehen!
So David took the spear and the jug of water by Saul’s head, and they got away; and no man saw or knew it or awoke. For they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the Lord had fallen on them.
David nahm den Speer und den Wasserkrug, die neben Sauls Kopf waren, und sie gingen weg. Niemand sah und niemand bemerkte etwas und keiner wachte auf; alle schliefen, denn der HERR hatte sie in einen tiefen Schlaf fallen lassen.
Now David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of a hill afar off, a great distance being between them.
David ging auf die andere Seite hinüber und stellte sich in größerer Entfernung auf den Gipfel des Berges, sodass ein weiter Zwischenraum zwischen ihnen war.
And David called out to the people and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, “Do you not answer, Abner?”
Then Abner answered and said, “Who are you, calling out to the king?”
Then Abner answered and said, “Who are you, calling out to the king?”
Dann rief er dem Volk und Abner, dem Sohn Ners, zu: Abner, willst du antworten? Abner antwortete und sagte: Wer bist du, um den König anzurufen?
So David said to Abner, “Are you not a man? And who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not guarded your lord the king? For one of the people came in to destroy your lord the king.
David antwortete Abner: Bist du nicht ein Mann, dem keiner in Israel gleicht? Warum hast du deinen Herrn, den König, nicht bewacht? Es ist nämlich einer aus dem Volk gekommen, um den König, deinen Herrn, umzubringen.
This thing that you have done is not good. As the Lord lives, you deserve to die, because you have not guarded your master, the Lord’s anointed. And now see where the king’s spear is, and the jug of water that was by his head.”
Das war nicht gut, was du da gemacht hast. So wahr der HERR lebt: Ihr habt den Tod verdient, weil ihr euren Herrn, den Gesalbten des HERRN, nicht bewacht habt. Sieh doch nach, wo der Speer des Königs und der Wasserkrug sind, die neben dem Kopf des Königs standen!
Then Saul knew David’s voice, and said, “Is that your voice, my son David?”
David said, “It is my voice, my lord, O king.”
David said, “It is my voice, my lord, O king.”
Saul erkannte die Stimme Davids und sagte: Ist das deine Stimme, mein Sohn David? David antwortete: Es ist meine Stimme, mein Herr und König.
And he said, “Why does my lord thus pursue his servant? For what have I done, or what evil is in my hand?
Dann fragte er: Warum verfolgt eigentlich mein Herr seinen Knecht? Was habe ich denn getan? Welches Unrecht habe ich begangen?
Now therefore, please, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant: If the Lord has stirred you up against me, let Him accept an offering. But if it is the children of men, may they be cursed before the Lord, for they have driven me out this day from sharing in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’
Möge doch mein Herr, der König, jetzt auf die Worte seines Knechtes hören: Wenn der HERR dich gegen mich aufgereizt hat, möge er ein wohlriechendes Opfer erhalten. Wenn es aber Menschen waren, dann sollen sie verflucht sein vor dem HERRN; denn sie haben mich vertrieben, sodass ich jetzt nicht mehr am Erbbesitz des HERRN teilhaben kann. Sie sagen: Geh fort, diene anderen Göttern!
So now, do not let my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord. For the king of Israel has come out to seek a flea, as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains.”
Doch mein Blut soll nicht fern vom HERRN zur Erde fließen. Der König von Israel ist ausgezogen, um einen einzigen Floh zu suchen, wie man in den Bergen ein Rebhuhn jagt.
Then Saul said, “I have sinned. Return, my son David. For I will harm you no more, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Indeed I have played the fool and erred exceedingly.”
Darauf sagte Saul: Ich habe gesündigt. Komm zurück, mein Sohn David! Ja, ich werde dir nichts zuleide tun, weil dir heute mein Leben so kostbar war. Ich sehe ein, ich habe töricht gehandelt und schwere Fehler gemacht.
And David answered and said, “Here is the king’s spear. Let one of the young men come over and get it.
David erwiderte: Seht her, hier ist der Speer des Königs. Einer von den jungen Männern soll herüberkommen und ihn holen.
May the Lord repay every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the Lord delivered you into my hand today, but I would not stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed.
Der HERR wird jedem seine Gerechtigkeit und Treue vergelten. Obwohl dich der HERR heute in meine Hand gegeben hatte, wollte ich meine Hand nicht an den Gesalbten des HERRN legen.
And indeed, as your life was valued much this day in my eyes, so let my life be valued much in the eyes of the Lord, and let Him deliver me out of all tribulation.”
Doch denk daran: Wie dein Leben heute in meinen Augen wertvoll war, so wird auch mein Leben in den Augen des HERRN wertvoll sein; er wird mich aus aller Bedrängnis erretten.
Then Saul said to David, “May you be blessed, my son David! You shall both do great things and also still prevail.”
So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

Saul sagte zu David: Gesegnet seist du, mein Sohn David. Du wirst es sicher vollbringen, dir wird es auch bestimmt gelingen. Und David zog weiter, Saul aber kehrte an seinen Ort zurück.
