Our ancestors in Egypt
were not impressed by the LORD’s miraculous deeds.
They soon forgot his many acts of kindness to them.
Instead, they rebelled against him at the Red Sea.a

Even so, he saved them —
to defend the honor of his name
and to demonstrate his mighty power.

Благодарите Господа за Его любовь, за всё, что Он сделал для человека.

He commanded the Red Seab to dry up.
He led Israel across the sea as if it were a desert.

Он даёт утоленье жаждущим и насыщает голодных.

10

So he rescued them from their enemies
and redeemed them from their foes.

Некоторые были заперты в темницах, окованные скорбию и железом.

11

Then the water returned and covered their enemies;
not one of them survived.

Они отказывались от Его советов, противились всему, что Он сказал.

12

Then his people believed his promises.
Then they sang his praise.

12

Он сделал жизнь их тяжёлой, и не было души, чтоб им помочь.

13

Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done!
They wouldn’t wait for his counsel!

Тогда они воззвали к Богу, и их избавил Он от бед.

14

In the wilderness their desires ran wild,
testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland.

Он вывел их из темноты, разбил оковы.

15

So he gave them what they asked for,
but he sent a plague along with it.

Благодарите Господа за Его любовь, за всё, что Он сделал для людей.

16

The people in the camp were jealous of Moses
and envious of Aaron, the LORD’s holy priest.

16

Бронзовые ворота Он разбивает и решетки железные рвёт.

17

Because of this, the earth opened up;
it swallowed Dathan
and buried Abiram and the other rebels.

17

Безрассудные страдали от грехов своих.

18

Fire fell upon their followers;
a flame consumed the wicked.

18

От всякой пищи отвращалась их душа, они приблизились к воротам смерти.

19

The people made a calf at Mount Sinaic;
they bowed before an image made of gold.

19

Тогда воззвали к Господу они, и Он их избавил от бед.

20

They traded their glorious God
for a statue of a grass-eating bull.

20

Он излечил и уберёг их от могилы.

21

They forgot God, their savior,
who had done such great things in Egypt —

Благодарите Господа за Его любовь, за всё, что Он сделал для людей.

22

such wonderful things in the land of Ham,
such awesome deeds at the Red Sea.

22

Господу жертвы воздай и радостными песнями рассказывай о делах Его великих.

23

So he declared he would destroy them.
But Moses, his chosen one, stepped between the LORD and the people.
He begged him to turn from his anger and not destroy them.

23

Вышли другие в море на своих кораблях, через далёкие воды отправились по делам.

24

The people refused to enter the pleasant land,
for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them.

24

И даже в безднах они увидали Господа нашего благие дела.

25

Instead, they grumbled in their tents
and refused to obey the LORD.

25

Но вот Он повелел — и налетела буря, взметнулись высокие волны.

26

Therefore, he solemnly swore
that he would kill them in the wilderness,

26

Они до небес людей поднимали, бросали в бездну их. И теряли люди мужество,

27

that he would scatter their descendantsd among the nations,
exiling them to distant lands.

27

падали и спотыкались. И мореходов мастерство их не могло спасти. Падали и спотыкались, как пьяные, забывали своё мастерство мореходы.

28

Then our ancestors joined in the worship of Baal at Peor;
they even ate sacrifices offered to the dead!

28

Тогда от несчастий воззвали они к Богу, и Он их избавил от бед.

29

They angered the LORD with all these things,
so a plague broke out among them.

29

Утихомирил Он бурю до шёпота, волны — до ряби.

30

But Phinehas had the courage to intervene,
and the plague was stopped.

30

Радость вернулась ко всем и к желанной пристани их направил Господь.

31

So he has been regarded as a righteous man
ever since that time.

31

Благодарите Господа за Его любовь, за всё, что Он сделал для людей.

32

At Meribah, too, they angered the LORD,
causing Moses serious trouble.

32

Превознеси Его перед толпой и восхваляйте на совете мудрейших.

33

They made Moses angry,e
and he spoke foolishly.

33

Он превратил реки в пустыни, ручьи — в землю иссохшую,

34

Israel failed to destroy the nations in the land,
as the LORD had commanded them.

34

превратил плодородную землю в пустошь солёную за проступки людей там живущих.

35

Instead, they mingled among the pagans
and adopted their evil customs.

35

Иссохшую землю Он напоил ручьями, и превратил пустыню в озёра.

36

They worshiped their idols,
which led to their downfall.

36

И привёл Он туда голодных, и они основали свой город, где могли поселиться.

37

They even sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to the demons.

37

Виноград посадили, засеяли поле и богатый урожай получили.

38

They shed innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters.
By sacrificing them to the idols of Canaan,
they polluted the land with murder.

38

Благословил их Господь, и умножилось их число, и стадам их Он не позволял уменьшаться.

39

They defiled themselves by their evil deeds,
and their love of idols was adultery in the LORD’s sight.

39

Но стало их меньше от угнетений, бедствий и скорби.

40

That is why the LORD’s anger burned against his people,
and he abhorred his own special possession.

40

Позором покрыл Господь их вожаков и заставил блуждать по бездорожию пустыни.

41

He handed them over to pagan nations,
and they were ruled by those who hated them.

41

Но из печали поднял Он бедных, и как стада увеличил их семьи.

42

Their enemies crushed them
and brought them under their cruel power.

42

Видят праведные всё, что делает Бог, и радуются, и нечего злобным на это сказать.

43

Again and again he rescued them,
but they chose to rebel against him,
and they were finally destroyed by their sin.

43

Мудрый своё внимание обратит на это и задумается о великой Господней любви.
