O LORD, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.

Проводиреві хора; псальма Давидова. Господи! Ти розглянув мене, і пізнав.

You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.

Ти знаєш, коли я сяду, і коли встану; ти з далека розумієш думки мої.

You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.

Ти бачиш стежку мою і місце відпочинку, і всї дороги мої знаєш.

You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, LORD.

Бо ще нема слова на язику в мене, а вже ти Господи, добре все знаєш.

You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.

З заду і з переду обступив мене! і руку свою положив на мене.

6

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

Розуміннє, надто — дивне, надто високе для мене, не здолїю збагнути його.

7

I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!

Куди йти менї перед духом твоїм, куди втекти менї від лиця твого?

If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave,a you are there.

Зійшов би я на небо, — ти там єси; спочив би я під землею, і там ти єси.

9

If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,

Взяв би я крила в зорі ранньої, та й на самому краю моря осївся,

even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.

І туди б рука твоя провела мене, і правиця твоя попала.

I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night —

І сказав би я: Тьма таки покриє мене, то й в ночі стане сьвітло кругом мене.

12

but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you.

І тьма не затьмить перед тобою, і ніч яснїє як день; тьма — одно що сьвітло.

13

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Ти сотворив внутро моє; ти зложив мене в утробі матері моєї.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous — how well I know it.

Прославляю тебе за те, що дав снагу менї предивну. Дїла твої чудесні, душа моя добре се знає.

15

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

Не були втаєні костї мої перед тобою, коли в тайнї постав я, як тая грудка в долїшнїх місцях землї штучно зложена.

16

You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.

Очі твої бачили зародок мій, і в книзї твоїй все було записано; минали днї, як костї творились, від часу того, як ще нї одної не було.

17

How precious are your thoughts about me,b O God.
They cannot be numbered!

Як любі для мене думки твої, Боже! Як велика безлїч їх!

18

I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!

Полїчив би, та більше їх, як піску. Пробуджаюсь, і я ще з тобою.

19

O God, if only you would destroy the wicked!
Get out of my life, you murderers!

О коли б ти, Боже, погубив беззаконника! І ви, людожери, відступіться геть від мене!..

20

They blaspheme you;
your enemies misuse your name.

20

Та ворогів твоїх, що згадують тебе для беззаконня, що за марним ганяють.

21

O LORD, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you?
Shouldn’t I despise those who oppose you?

Чи не мати менї ненавистї проти тих, що тебе ненавидять, і не гидитись тими, що проти тебе встали?

22

Yes, I hate them with total hatred,
for your enemies are my enemies.

Повною ненавистю ненавиджу їх; вони вороги в мене.

23

Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Розглянь мене, Боже, і пізнай серце моє! Випробуй мене, і пізнай думки мої!

24

Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

24

І подивись, чи йду я дорогою труду, і веди мене дорогою вічною.
