    Why are the nations so angry?
    Why do they waste their time with futile plans?

    Warum toben die Völker, warum ersinnen die Nationen nichtige Pläne?
  • 2
    The kings of the earth prepare for battle;
    the rulers plot together
    against the LORD
    and against his anointed one.

    Die Könige der Erde stehen auf, die Großen tun sich zusammen gegen den HERRN und seinen Gesalbten:
  • 3
    “Let us break their chains,” they cry,
    “and free ourselves from slavery to God.”
  • 3
    Lasst uns ihre Fesseln zerreißen und von uns werfen ihre Stricke!
  • 4
    But the one who rules in heaven laughs.
    The Lord scoffs at them.
  • 4
    Er, der im Himmel thront, lacht, der HERR verspottet sie.
  • 5
    Then in anger he rebukes them,
    terrifying them with his fierce fury.
  • 5
    Dann spricht er in seinem Zorn zu ihnen, in seinem Grimm wird er sie erschrecken:
  • 6
    For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne
    in Jerusalem,a on my holy mountain.”

    Ich selber habe meinen König eingesetzt auf Zion, meinem heiligen Berg.
  • 7
    The king proclaims the LORD’s decree:
    “The LORD said to me, ‘You are my son.b
    Today I have become your Father.c

    Den Beschluss des HERRN will ich kundtun. Er sprach zu mir: Mein Sohn bist du. Ich selber habe dich heute gezeugt.
  • 8
    Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance,
    the whole earth as your possession.
  • 8
    Fordere von mir und ich gebe dir die Völker zum Erbe und zum Eigentum die Enden der Erde.
  • 9
    You will breakd them with an iron rod
    and smash them like clay pots.’”

    Du wirst sie zerschlagen mit eisernem Stab, wie Krüge aus Ton wirst du sie zertrümmern.

    Now then, you kings, act wisely!
    Be warned, you rulers of the earth!
  • 10
    Nun denn, ihr Könige, kommt zur Einsicht, lasst euch warnen, ihr Richter der Erde!
  • 11
    Serve the LORD with reverent fear,
    and rejoice with trembling.
  • 11
    Mit Furcht dient dem HERRN, jubelt ihm zu mit Beben,
  • 12
    Submit to God’s royal son,e or he will become angry,
    and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities —
    for his anger flares up in an instant.
    But what joy for all who take refuge in him!

    küsst den Sohn, damit er nicht zürnt und euer Weg sich nicht verliert, denn wenig nur und sein Zorn ist entbrannt. Selig alle, die bei ihm sich bergen!
