New Living Translation

New King James Version

  • For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by stringed instruments.

    Answer me when I call to you,
    O God who declares me innocent.
    Free me from my troubles.
    Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
  • The Safety of the Faithful

    To the [a]Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

    Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
    You have relieved me in my distress;
    [b]Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
  • How long will you people ruin my reputation?
    How long will you make groundless accusations?
    How long will you continue your lies?
    Interlude
  • How long, O you sons of men,
    Will you turn my glory to shame?
    How long will you love worthlessness
    And seek falsehood? Selah
  • You can be sure of this:
    The LORD set apart the godly for himself.
    The LORD will answer when I call to him.
  • But know that the Lord has [c]set apart for Himself him who is godly;
    The Lord will hear when I call to Him.
  • Don’t sin by letting anger control you.
    Think about it overnight and remain silent.
    Interlude
  • Be[d] angry, and do not sin.
    Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah
  • Offer sacrifices in the right spirit,
    and trust the LORD.
  • Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,
    And put your trust in the Lord.
  • Many people say, “Who will show us better times?”
    Let your face smile on us, LORD.
  • There are many who say,
    “Who will show us any good?”
    Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
  • You have given me greater joy
    than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.
  • You have put gladness in my heart,
    More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
  • In peace I will lie down and sleep,
    for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.
  • I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
    For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
