New Living Translation

Darby Bible Translation

  • For the choir director: A meditation; a psalma of David.

    Only fools say in their hearts,
    “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt, and their actions are evil;
    not one of them does good!
  • The Fool Says, There is No God

    {To the chief Musician. On Mahalath: an instruction. Of David.} The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God! They have corrupted themselves, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
  • God looks down from heaven
    on the entire human race;
    he looks to see if anyone is truly wise,
    if anyone seeks God.
  • God looked down from the heavens upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
  • But no, all have turned away;
    all have become corrupt.b
    No one does good,
    not a single one!
  • Every one of them is gone back, they are together become corrupt: there is none that doeth good, not even one.
  • Will those who do evil never learn?
    They eat up my people like bread
    and wouldn’t think of praying to God.
  • Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, eating up my people [as] they eat bread? they call not upon God.
  • Terror will grip them,
    terror like they have never known before.
    God will scatter the bones of your enemies.
    You will put them to shame, for God has rejected them.
  • There were they in great fear, where no fear was; for God scattereth the bones of him that encampeth against thee. Thou hast put [them] to shame, for God hath despised them.
  • Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel?
    When God restores his people,
    Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.
  • Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God turneth again the captivity of his people, Jacob shall be glad, Israel shall rejoice.
