But as for me, I almost lost my footing.

Darum läuft sogar Gottes Volk ihnen nach, gierig saugt es ihre Worte auf wie frisches Wasser.
“What does God know?” they ask.

Denn diese eingebildeten Leute sagen: »Gott kümmert sich um nichts — wie sollte er auch? Er thront weit oben und weiß nicht, was sich hier unten abspielt!«

Selbstsicher und sorglos leben sie in den Tag hinein, ihr Vermögen und ihre Macht werden immer größer.
