Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will strike Pharaoh and the land of Egypt with one more blow. After that, Pharaoh will let you leave this country. In fact, he will be so eager to get rid of you that he will force you all to leave.

Der HERR sprach zu Mose: »Nun werde ich den Pharao und sein Volk noch ein letztes Mal strafen. Danach wird er euch von hier wegziehen lassen, ja, er wird euch regelrecht fortjagen!
Tell all the Israelite men and women to ask their Egyptian neighbors for articles of silver and gold.”
Sag den Israeliten, dass sie sich silberne und goldene Schmuckstücke und Gefäße geben lassen sollen. Jeder Mann soll in den umliegenden Häusern nachfragen, und die Frauen sollen ihre Nachbarinnen darum bitten.«
(Now the LORD had caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the people of Israel. And Moses was considered a very great man in the land of Egypt, respected by Pharaoh’s officials and the Egyptian people alike.)
Der HERR hatte den Israeliten nämlich großes Ansehen bei den Ägyptern verschafft. Auch Mose war in Ägypten hoch geachtet, bei den Hofbeamten des Pharaos wie bei der Bevölkerung.
Moses had announced to Pharaoh, “This is what the LORD says: At midnight tonight I will pass through the heart of Egypt.
Mose gab bekannt: »So spricht der HERR: ›Um Mitternacht werde ich durch das ganze Land gehen
All the firstborn sons will die in every family in Egypt, from the oldest son of Pharaoh, who sits on his throne, to the oldest son of his lowliest servant girl who grinds the flour. Even the firstborn of all the livestock will die.
und alle erstgeborenen Söhne der Ägypter töten, egal ob arm oder reich. Den Sohn des Pharaos auf dem Königsthron trifft es genauso wie den Sohn einer einfachen Sklavin, die mit der Handmühle Korn mahlt. Auch jedes erstgeborene männliche Tier aus den Herden der Ägypter wird sterben.
Then a loud wail will rise throughout the land of Egypt, a wail like no one has heard before or will ever hear again.
Überall im Land soll man die Menschen klagen und weinen hören, wie es noch nie war und auch nie wieder sein wird.
But among the Israelites it will be so peaceful that not even a dog will bark. Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites.
Die Israeliten und ihre Tiere aber werden verschont bleiben, nicht einmal ein Hund bellt sie an. Daran kann jeder erkennen, dass ich die Israeliten anders behandle als die Ägypter.‹
All the officials of Egypt will run to me and fall to the ground before me. ‘Please leave!’ they will beg. ‘Hurry! And take all your followers with you.’ Only then will I go!” Then, burning with anger, Moses left Pharaoh.
Wenn der Herr dies tut, werden die ägyptischen Hofbeamten zu mir kommen, vor mir niederfallen und mich anflehen, zusammen mit den Israeliten das Land zu verlassen. Und dann werden wir fortziehen!« Glühend vor Zorn verließ Mose das Haus des Pharaos.
Now the LORD had told Moses earlier, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, but then I will do even more mighty miracles in the land of Egypt.”
Der HERR hatte Mose vorgewarnt und gesagt: »Der Pharao wird nicht auf euch hören. Das soll so sein, damit ich in Ägypten viele mächtige Wunder tun kann.«
Moses and Aaron performed these miracles in Pharaoh’s presence, but the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he wouldn’t let the Israelites leave the country.
Mose und Aaron hatten all diese Wunder vor den Augen des Pharaos vollbracht. Aber der HERR ließ den König hart bleiben, so dass die Israeliten das Land nicht verlassen durften.
