aIf only my head were a pool of water
and my eyes a fountain of tears,
I would weep day and night
for all my people who have been slaughtered.

bOh, that I could go away and forget my people
and live in a travelers’ shack in the desert.
For they are all adulterers —
a pack of treacherous liars.
Judgment for Disobedience

Если бы только был у меня в пустыне приют, где странники проводят ночь, я бы покинул народ мой неверный, отвернувшийся от Бога.

“My people bend their tongues like bows
to shoot out lies.
They refuse to stand up for the truth.
They only go from bad to worse.
They do not know me,”
says the LORD.

"Они язык свой используют, как лук, ложь изо ртов, как стрелы, вылетает. Сильнее правды стала ложь, и люди идут от одного греха к другому, Меня не зная". Так говорит Господь.

“Beware of your neighbor!
Don’t even trust your brother!
For brother takes advantage of brother,
and friend slanders friend.

"Присмотрись к своему соседу, не доверяй брату, потому что брат — клеветник, а сосед за твоей спиною злословит.

5

They all fool and defraud each other;
no one tells the truth.
With practiced tongues they tell lies;
they wear themselves out with all their sinning.

Каждый лжёт своему соседу — правды никто не говорит. Народ Иудеи, свои языки ко лжи приучив, так устал, что не в силах раскаяться.

They pile lie upon lie
and utterly refuse to acknowledge me,”
says the LORD.

Одна беда идёт другой на смену, за ложью ложь — и люди не хотят познать Меня". Так говорит Господь.

Therefore, this is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says:
“See, I will melt them down in a crucible
and test them like metal.
What else can I do with my people?c

Поэтому Бог Всемогущий говорит: "Работник плавит на огне металл, чтобы узнать, чист ли он. Вот так и Я буду испытывать народ Иудеи, другого нет пути, ибо народ Мой грешен.

For their tongues shoot lies like poisoned arrows.
They speak friendly words to their neighbors
while scheming in their heart to kill them.

Их языки острее стрел, рты лживы, каждый любезно говорит с соседом, втайне желая обобрать его.

9

Should I not punish them for this?” says the LORD.
“Should I not avenge myself against such a nation?”

Я должен наказать народ Иудеи". Так говорит Господь. "Ты знаешь, Я их должен наказать по их грехам".

10

I will weep for the mountains
and wail for the wilderness pastures.
For they are desolate and empty of life;
the lowing of cattle is heard no more;
the birds and wild animals have all fled.

Оплакивать Я буду горы, петь песни похоронные полям, поскольку всё живое в них исчезло, не видно путников, не слышно блеяния овец, все птицы улетели, зверь ушёл.

“I will make Jerusalem into a heap of ruins,” says the LORD.
“It will be a place haunted by jackals.
The towns of Judah will be ghost towns,
with no one living in them.”

"Я в мусор превращу Иерусалим — в нём станут жить шакалы. Я города и землю Иудеи разрушу так, что в них никто не будет жить".

Who is wise enough to understand all this? Who has been instructed by the LORD and can explain it to others? Why has the land been so ruined that no one dares to travel through it?

Где человек настолько мудрый, чтобы понять всё это? Есть ли кто-нибудь, кто Господом научен, кто может объяснить, за что Господь всю землю превратил в бесплодную пустыню?

The LORD replies, “This has happened because my people have abandoned my instructions; they have refused to obey what I said.

И отвечал Господь на это так: "Всё потому, что люди Иудеи Мои заветы перестали исполнять; Я им ученье дал, но следовать ему они не захотели.

14

Instead, they have stubbornly followed their own desires and worshiped the images of Baal, as their ancestors taught them.

Они шли собственным путём, упрямо, по следам идолов Ваала, как научили их отцы".

15

So now, this is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: Look! I will feed them with bitterness and give them poison to drink.

Поэтому Господь Всемогущий, Бог Израиля, говорит: "Я заставлю скоро народ Иудеи есть полынь, Я заставлю их пить отравленную воду.

16

I will scatter them around the world, in places they and their ancestors never heard of, and even there I will chase them with the sword until I have destroyed them completely.”
Weeping in Jerusalem

Я разбросаю их среди других народов, заставлю жить среди чужих людей, которых ни они, ни их отцы не знали, Я им вослед пошлю людей с мечами, которые их будут убивать, пока не уничтожат".

This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says:
“Consider all this, and call for the mourners.
Send for the women who mourn at funerals.

Вот что сказал Господь Всемогущий: "Подумайте о том, чтобы искусных плакальщиц позвать и привести сюда.

18

Quick! Begin your weeping!
Let the tears flow from your eyes.

Все говорят: "Пусть эти женщины придут поскорее и начнут плакать о нас, чтоб и у нас глаза наполнились слезами, и потекли потоки по лицу".

19

Hear the people of Jerusalemd crying in despair,
‘We are ruined! We are completely humiliated!
We must leave our land,
because our homes have been torn down.’”

Слышен плач над Сионом, он громок: "Воистину мы уничтожены, воистину мы опозорены; покинуть нашу землю должны мы, потому что наши дома разрушены и стали грудой камней"".

20

Listen, you women, to the words of the LORD;
open your ears to what he has to say.
Teach your daughters to wail;
teach one another how to lament.

Слушайте, женщины Иудеи, слово Господа, из уст Господних: "Учите дочерей ваших громко плакать — каждая должна знать эти похоронные плачи:

21

For death has crept in through our windows
and has entered our mansions.
It has killed off the flower of our youth:
Children no longer play in the streets,
and young men no longer gather in the squares.

"Вот смерть пришла, в окно проникла, в чертоги наши смерть пришла, и к детям, что на улицах играют, и к юношам на площадях".

22

This is what the LORD says:
“Bodies will be scattered across the fields like clumps of manure,
like bundles of grain after the harvest.
No one will be left to bury them.”

Иеремия, извести: "Господь сказал, что будут мёртвые в полях лежать вместо навоза, тела их будут как снопы позади жнеца, но некому будет их собрать"".

This is what the LORD says:
“Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom,
or the powerful boast in their power,
or the rich boast in their riches.

Так говорит Господь: "Не должен мудрец хвалиться своею мудростью, не должен силой хвастать сильный, не должен хвастать золотом богатый.

24

But those who wish to boast
should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD
who demonstrates unfailing love
and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
I, the LORD, have spoken!

Но если хочет кто-нибудь хвалиться, пусть хвалится, что он узнал Меня и понимает, что Я — Господь, что добр Я и справедлив, несу земле добро, и делать это Мне угодно". Так говорит Господь.

25

“A time is coming,” says the LORD, “when I will punish all those who are circumcised in body but not in spirit —

Вот весть Господняя: "Настанет время, когда Я буду наказывать тех, кто обрезан лишь телесно.

the Egyptians, Edomites, Ammonites, Moabites, the people who live in the desert in remote places,e and yes, even the people of Judah. And like all these pagan nations, the people of Israel also have uncircumcised hearts.”

Я говорю о народах Египта, Иудеи, Едома, Аммона, Моава и обо всех, кто живёт в пустыне, — их мужчины не были обрезаны, но люди Израиля живут с необрезанными сердцами".
