Judgment against Israel’s Leaders

I said, “Listen, you leaders of Israel!
You are supposed to know right from wrong,

І Він скаже: Послухайте ж це, володарі дому Якова, і ви, що залишилися з дому Ізраїля! Хіба не вам пізнати суд?

2

but you are the very ones
who hate good and love evil.
You skin my people alive
and tear the flesh from their bones.

Ви, що ненавидите добро і шукаєте зло, що дерете з них їхню шкіру і їхні тіла від їхніх костей!

3

Yes, you eat my people’s flesh,
strip off their skin,
and break their bones.
You chop them up
like meat for the cooking pot.

Так, як ви пожерли тіло мого народу і їхню шкіру з них здерли, і їхні кості порозбивали і роздробили, наче м’ясо в казан і немов м’ясо в глечик,

4

Then you beg the LORD for help in times of trouble!
Do you really expect him to answer?
After all the evil you have done,
he won’t even look at you!”

так вони закричать до Господа, і Він їх не вислухає! І відверне від них Своє обличчя в той час, тому що вони вчинили зло у своїх задумах на них.

This is what the LORD says:
“You false prophets are leading my people astray!
You promise peace for those who give you food,
but you declare war on those who refuse to feed you.

Так говорить Господь проти пророків, що зводять Мій народ, що кусають своїми зубами і проголошують на нього мир, і не дано в їхні уста, вони на нього підняли війну.

6

Now the night will close around you,
cutting off all your visions.
Darkness will cover you,
putting an end to your predictions.
The sun will set for you prophets,
and your day will come to an end.

Через це ніч буде вам за видіння, і темрява буде вам за віщування, і сонце зайде над пророками, і над ними потемніє день.

7

Then you seers will be put to shame,
and you fortune-tellers will be disgraced.
And you will cover your faces
because there is no answer from God.”

І засоромляться ті, що бачать сни, і висміяні будуть ворожбити, і говоритимуть проти них усі ці, тому що не буде того, хто їх слухатиме.

8

But as for me, I am filled with power —
with the Spirit of the LORD.
I am filled with justice and strength
to boldly declare Israel’s sin and rebellion.

Хіба я не наповню силу Господнім Духом, судом і міццю, щоб сповістити Якову його безчестя й Ізраїлеві їхні гріхи.

Listen to me, you leaders of Israel!
You hate justice and twist all that is right.

Послухайте ж це, старійшини дому Якова і ви, що залишилися з дому Ізраїля, що опоганюєте суд і нищите все пряме,

10

You are building Jerusalem
on a foundation of murder and corruption.

10

ви, що будуєте Сіон кров’ю і Єрусалим неправедністю.

11

You rulers make decisions based on bribes;
you priests teach God’s laws only for a price;
you prophets won’t prophesy unless you are paid.
Yet all of you claim to depend on the LORD.
“No harm can come to us,” you say,
“for the LORD is here among us.”

Його володарі судили за дари, і його священики відповідали за винагороду, і його пророки віщували за срібло, і на Господі спочили, кажучи: Хіба не Господь є посеред нас? На нас не найде зло!

Because of you, Mount Zion will be plowed like an open field;
Jerusalem will be reduced to ruins!
A thicket will grow on the heights
where the Temple now stands.

Через це Сіон через вас буде розораний, як поле, і Єрусалим буде як сховище овочів, а гора дому — на лісовий гай.
