Living the New Life

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

Put On the New Self

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

And when Christ, who is youra life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

When Christ who is youra life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you:b sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.b

On account of these the wrath of God is coming.c

You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.

In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.

But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.

But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.

Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old selfd with its practices

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile,c circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized,d slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave,e free; but Christ is all, and in all.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.e

knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done. For God has no favorites.

For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
