This letter is from Paul, Silas,a and Timothy.
We are writing to the church in Thessalonica, to you who belong to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
May God give you grace and peace.
The Faith of the Thessalonian Believers
We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly.
Wir danken Gott für euch alle, sooft wir in unseren Gebeten an euch denken;
As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.
unablässig erinnern wir uns vor Gott, unserem Vater, an das Werk eures Glaubens, an die Mühe eurer Liebe und an die Standhaftigkeit eurer Hoffnung auf Jesus Christus, unseren Herrn.
Wir wissen, von Gott geliebte Brüder und Schwestern, dass ihr erwählt seid.
Denn unser Evangelium kam zu euch nicht im Wort allein, sondern auch mit Kraft und mit dem Heiligen Geist und mit voller Gewissheit; ihr wisst selbst, wie wir bei euch aufgetreten sind, um euch zu gewinnen.
So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord.
Und ihr seid unserem Beispiel gefolgt und dem des Herrn; ihr habt das Wort trotz großer Bedrängnis mit der Freude aufgenommen, die der Heilige Geist gibt.
So wurdet ihr ein Vorbild für alle Glaubenden in Mazedonien und in Achaia.
And now the word of the Lord is ringing out from you to people everywhere, even beyond Macedonia and Achaia, for wherever we go we find people telling us about your faith in God. We don’t need to tell them about it,
Von euch aus ist das Wort des Herrn aber nicht nur nach Mazedonien und Achaia gedrungen, sondern überall ist euer Glaube an Gott bekannt geworden, sodass wir darüber nichts zu sagen brauchen.
for they keep talking about the wonderful welcome you gave us and how you turned away from idols to serve the living and true God.
Denn man erzählt sich überall, welche Aufnahme wir bei euch gefunden haben und wie ihr euch von den Götzen zu Gott bekehrt habt, um dem lebendigen und wahren Gott zu dienen
And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God’s Son from heaven — Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.
