Dann sah ich in jeder der vier Himmelsrichtungen einen Engel stehen. Sie hielten die Winde und Stürme zurück. Kein Lufthauch war zu spüren, weder auf der Erde noch auf dem Meer; nicht ein Blättchen raschelte an den Bäumen.
And I saw another angel coming up from the east, carrying the seal of the living God. And he shouted to those four angels, who had been given power to harm land and sea,
Aus dem Osten, da wo die Sonne aufgeht, sah ich einen anderen Engel heraufsteigen; der brachte das Siegel des lebendigen Gottes. Den vier Engeln, die von Gott die Macht erhalten hatten, das Verderben über Land und Meer zu bringen, rief er mit lauter Stimme zu:
“Wait! Don’t harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants.”
»Wartet! Bringt noch kein Unheil über das Land, das Meer und die Bäume. Erst wollen wir allen, die zu Gott gehören und ihm dienen, sein Siegel auf die Stirn drücken.«
And I heard how many were marked with the seal of God — 144,000 were sealed from all the tribes of Israel:

from Judah12,000 from Reuben 12,000 from Gad 12,000

Praise from the Great Crowd
After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.
Jetzt sah ich eine riesige Menschenmenge, so groß, dass niemand sie zählen konnte. Die Menschen kamen aus allen Nationen, Stämmen und Völkern; alle Sprachen der Welt waren zu hören. Sie standen vor dem Thron und vor dem Lamm. Alle hatten weiße Gewänder an und trugen Palmenzweige in der Hand.
And they were shouting with a great roar,
“Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne
and from the Lamb!”

And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living beings. And they fell before the throne with their faces to the ground and worshiped God.
Alle Engel standen um den Thron, um die Ältesten und die vier mächtigen Gestalten. Sie fielen vor dem Thron nieder und beteten Gott an.
They sang,
“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom
and thanksgiving and honor
and power and strength belong to our God
forever and ever! Amen.”

»Ja, das steht fest«, sagten sie, »Anbetung und Herrlichkeit, Weisheit und Dank, Ehre, Macht und Kraft gebühren unserem Gott für immer und ewig. Amen!«
Then one of the twenty-four elders asked me, “Who are these who are clothed in white? Where did they come from?”
Da fragte mich einer der Ältesten: »Weißt du, wer diese Menschen mit den weißen Kleidern sind und wo sie herkommen?«
»Nein, Herr«, antwortete ich, »aber du weißt es bestimmt.« Da antwortete er mir: »Sie kommen aus Verfolgung, Leid und Bedrängnis. Im Blut des Lammes haben sie ihre Kleider reingewaschen.

and serve him day and night in his Temple.

Deshalb stehen sie hier vor dem Thron Gottes und dienen ihm Tag und Nacht in seinem Tempel. Gott, der auf dem Thron sitzt, wird bei ihnen wohnen und sie beschirmen!
They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.

Sie werden nie wieder Hunger oder Durst leiden; keine Sonnenglut oder sengende Hitze wird sie jemals wieder quälen.
Denn das Lamm, das in der Mitte steht, wo der Thron ist, wird ihr Hirte sein. Er wird sie zu den Quellen führen, aus denen das Wasser des Lebens entspringt. Und Gott wird ihnen alle Tränen abwischen.«
