Saul redete vor seinem Sohn Jonatan und vor allen seinen Dienern davon, dass er David töten wolle. Sauls Sohn Jonatan aber hatte David sehr gern;
told him what his father was planning. “Tomorrow morning,” he warned him, “you must find a hiding place out in the fields.
deshalb berichtete er David davon und sagte: Mein Vater Saul will dich töten. Nimm dich also morgen früh in Acht, verbirg dich in einem Versteck!
I’ll ask my father to go out there with me, and I’ll talk to him about you. Then I’ll tell you everything I can find out.”
Ich aber will hinausgehen und auf dem Feld gerade dort zu meinem Vater hintreten, wo du bist. Dann werde ich mit meinem Vater über dich reden, und wenn ich etwas erfahre, werde ich dir Bescheid geben.
The next morning Jonathan spoke with his father about David, saying many good things about him. “The king must not sin against his servant David,” Jonathan said. “He’s never done anything to harm you. He has always helped you in any way he could.
Jonatan redete also zugunsten Davids mit seinem Vater und sagte zu ihm: Der König möge sich doch nicht an seinem Knecht David versündigen; denn er hat sich ja auch nicht an dir versündigt und seine Taten sind für dich sehr nützlich gewesen.
Have you forgotten about the time he risked his life to kill the Philistine giant and how the LORD brought a great victory to all Israel as a result? You were certainly happy about it then. Why should you murder an innocent man like David? There is no reason for it at all!”
Er hat sein Leben aufs Spiel gesetzt und den Philister erschlagen. Der HERR hat ganz Israel eine große Rettung geschenkt. Du hast es selbst gesehen und dich darüber gefreut. Warum willst du dich nun versündigen und unschuldiges Blut vergießen, indem du David ohne jeden Grund tötest?
So Saul listened to Jonathan and vowed, “As surely as the LORD lives, David will not be killed.”
Saul hörte auf Jonatan und schwor: So wahr der HERR lebt: David soll nicht umgebracht werden.
Afterward Jonathan called David and told him what had happened. Then he brought David to Saul, and David served in the court as before.
Jonatan rief David und berichtete ihm alles. Dann führte Jonatan David zu Saul und David war wieder in Sauls Dienst wie vorher.
War broke out again after that, and David led his troops against the Philistines. He attacked them with such fury that they all ran away.
Der Krieg ging weiter und David zog wieder gegen die Philister in den Kampf. Er brachte ihnen eine schwere Niederlage bei und sie ergriffen die Flucht.
Doch wieder kam vom HERRN ein böser Geist über Saul, während er in seinem Haus saß und den Speer in der Hand hielt. David schlug mit der Hand die Saiten.
Saul hurled his spear at David. But David dodged out of the way, and leaving the spear stuck in the wall, he fled and escaped into the night.
Da versuchte Saul, David mit dem Speer an die Wand zu spießen; aber er wich Saul aus, sodass der Speer in die Wand fuhr. David floh und brachte sich noch in derselben Nacht in Sicherheit.
Michal Saves David’s Life
Then Saul sent troops to watch David’s house. They were told to kill David when he came out the next morning. But Michal, David’s wife, warned him, “If you don’t escape tonight, you will be dead by morning.”
Saul schickte Boten zum Haus Davids, die ihm auflauern und ihn am nächsten Morgen töten sollten. Doch Michal, Davids Frau, warnte ihn und sagte: Wenn du dich nicht noch in dieser Nacht in Sicherheit bringst, wirst du morgen früh umgebracht.
So she helped him climb out through a window, and he fled and escaped.
Michal ließ David durch das Fenster hinab, sodass er fliehen und sich in Sicherheit bringen konnte.
Dann nahm Michal das Götterbild, legte es in Davids Bett, umgab seinen Kopf mit einem Geflecht von Ziegenhaaren und deckte es mit einem Kleidungsstück zu.
When the troops came to arrest David, she told them he was sick and couldn’t get out of bed.
Als nun Saul Boten schickte, die David holen sollten, sagte sie: Er ist krank.
But Saul sent the troops back to get David. He ordered, “Bring him to me in his bed so I can kill him!”
Da schickte Saul die Boten wiederum, um nach David zu sehen, und befahl: Bringt ihn im Bett zu mir her; er soll umgebracht werden.
But when they came to carry David out, they discovered that it was only an idol in the bed with a cushion of goat’s hair at its head.
Als die Boten kamen, entdeckten sie im Bett ein Götterbild mit einem Geflecht von Ziegenhaaren um den Kopf.
“Why have you betrayed me like this and let my enemy escape?” Saul demanded of Michal.
“I had to,” Michal replied. “He threatened to kill me if I didn’t help him.”
“I had to,” Michal replied. “He threatened to kill me if I didn’t help him.”
Da sagte Saul zu Michal: Warum hast du mich so betrogen und meinen Feind entkommen lassen, sodass er sich in Sicherheit bringen konnte? Michal antwortete Saul: Er hat zu mir gesagt: Lass mich weggehen, sonst bringe ich dich um!
So David escaped and went to Ramah to see Samuel, and he told him all that Saul had done to him. Then Samuel took David with him to live at Naioth.
David floh also und brachte sich in Sicherheit. Er kam zu Samuel nach Rama und erzählte ihm alles, was Saul ihm angetan hatte. Dann ging er zusammen mit Samuel ins Prophetenhaus und beide blieben dort.
When the report reached Saul that David was at Naioth in Ramah,
Als man nun Saul berichtete: David ist in Rama, und zwar im Prophetenhaus!,
he sent troops to capture him. But when they arrived and saw Samuel leading a group of prophets who were prophesying, the Spirit of God came upon Saul’s men, and they also began to prophesy.
da schickte Saul Boten, um David holen zu lassen. Sobald sie die Schar der Propheten mit Samuel an ihrer Spitze in prophetischer Verzückung sahen, kam der Geist Gottes auch über die Boten Sauls und auch sie gerieten in Verzückung.
When Saul heard what had happened, he sent other troops, but they, too, prophesied! The same thing happened a third time.
Als man Saul das meldete, schickte er andere Boten; aber auch sie gerieten in Verzückung. Da schickte er zum dritten Mal Boten; doch auch sie gerieten in Verzückung.
Finally, Saul himself went to Ramah and arrived at the great well in Secu. “Where are Samuel and David?” he demanded.
“They are at Naioth in Ramah,” someone told him.
“They are at Naioth in Ramah,” someone told him.
Darauf ging er selbst nach Rama. Als er zu der großen Zisterne in Sechu kam, fragte er: Wo sind Samuel und David? Man antwortete ihm: Sie sind gerade im Prophetenhaus in Rama.
But on the way to Naioth in Ramah the Spirit of God came even upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy all the way to Naioth!
Als er von dort zum Prophetenhaus in Rama weiterging, kam auch über ihn der Geist Gottes und er ging in prophetischer Verzückung weiter, bis er zum Prophetenhaus in Rama kam.
He tore off his clothes and lay naked on the ground all day and all night, prophesying in the presence of Samuel. The people who were watching exclaimed, “What? Is even Saul a prophet?”
Er zog sogar seine Kleider aus und blieb auch in Samuels Gegenwart in Verzückung. Den ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht über lag er nackt da. Deshalb sagt man: Ist denn auch Saul unter den Propheten?
