Den Pfahl der Göttin Aschera ließ Josia aus dem Tempel holen und aus der Stadt schaffen. Er verbrannte ihn im Kidrontal, zerrieb die Asche zu feinem Staub und streute diesen auf die Gräber des Armenfriedhofs.

Und ließ das Ascherabild aus dem Hause des HERRN führen hinaus vor Jerusalem an den Bach Kidron und verbrannte es am Bach Kidron und machte es zu Staub und warf den Staub auf die Gräber der gemeinen Leute.

Den Kultpfahl schaffte er aus dem Haus des HERRN und aus Jerusalem hinaus in das Kidrontal und verbrannte ihn dort; er zermalmte ihn zu Staub und streute diesen auf die Gräber des einfachen Volkes.
