— Не женись и не заводи себе здесь ни сыновей, ни дочерей.
“You must not marry and have sons or daughters in this place.”
Ведь так говорит Господь о сыновьях и дочерях, родившихся здесь, и о матерях, родивших их, и об отцах, давших им жизнь:
For this is what the Lord says about the sons and daughters born in this land and about the women who are their mothers and the men who are their fathers:
— Они погибнут от страшных болезней и не будут ни оплаканы, ни похоронены; они будут, как навоз, лежать на земле. Поразит их меч, и погубит голод; их трупы станут пищей для небесных птиц и земных зверей.
“They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried but will be like dung lying on the ground. They will perish by sword and famine, and their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.”
Ведь так говорит Господь:
— Не входи в дом, где устраивают поминальные обеды; не ходи ни плакать, ни соболезновать, потому что Я лишил этот народ Своего благословения, любви и жалости, — возвещает Господь. —

For this is what the Lord says: “Do not enter a house where there is a funeral meal; do not go to mourn or show sympathy, because I have withdrawn my blessing, my love and my pity from this people,” declares the Lord.
В этом краю умрут и знатные, и бедные, не похоронят их и не оплачут, и не будут делать на себе надрезов и брить голов в память о них.55
“Both high and low will die in this land. They will not be buried or mourned, and no one will cut themselves or shave their head for the dead.
Никто не преломит хлеба для плачущих, чтобы утешить их об умершем; никто не подаст им утешительной чарки, чтобы выпили в память об отце и матери.
No one will offer food to comfort those who mourn for the dead — not even for a father or a mother — nor will anyone give them a drink to console them.
Не входи и в дом пира и не садись с ними есть и пить.
“And do not enter a house where there is feasting and sit down to eat and drink.

— На ваших глазах, в ваши дни, Я положу конец звукам веселья и радости, голосам жениха и невесты на этой земле.

For this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Before your eyes and in your days I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in this place.
Когда ты скажешь этому народу все это, и они станут спрашивать тебя: «За что Господь предрек нам великое горе? В чем мы провинились? Что за грех совершили перед Господом, нашим Богом?» —
“When you tell these people all this and they ask you, ‘Why has the Lord decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the Lord our God?’
отвечай: Потому что ваши отцы оставили Меня, — возвещает Господь, — и пошли за чужими богами, и служили им и поклонялись, а Меня оставили и не сохранили Закон Мой.
then say to them, ‘It is because your ancestors forsook me,’ declares the Lord, ‘and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. They forsook me and did not keep my law.
А сами вы поступаете хуже ваших отцов, каждый поступает по упрямству своего злого сердца и отказывается слушать Меня.
But you have behaved more wickedly than your ancestors. See how all of you are following the stubbornness of your evil hearts instead of obeying me.
За это Я изгоню вас из этой земли в землю, которой не знали ни вы, ни ваши отцы, и вы будете днем и ночью служить там чужим богам, потому что Я не пожалею вас.
So I will throw you out of this land into a land neither you nor your ancestors have known, and there you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’
— Но непременно настанут дни, — возвещает Господь, — когда больше не будут говорить: «Верно, как и то, что жив Господь, Который вывел израильтян из Египта»,
“However, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when it will no longer be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’
а будут говорить: «Верно, как и то, что жив Господь, Который вывел израильтян из северных земель и из всех стран, куда Он изгнал их», потому что Я верну их в ту землю, которую дал их предкам.
but it will be said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ For I will restore them to the land I gave their ancestors.
А ныне Я посылаю за множеством рыболовов, — возвещает Господь, — и они переловят их. После этого Я пошлю за множеством охотников, и они будут охотиться на них на всех горах, на всех холмах и в расщелинах скал.
“But now I will send for many fishermen,” declares the Lord, “and they will catch them. After that I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and from the crevices of the rocks.
Мои глаза устремлены на все их пути; они не скрыты от Меня, и вина их не утаится от Моих глаз.
My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes.
Я воздам им двойной мерой за их вину и грех, потому что они осквернили Мою землю своими безжизненными изваяниями и наполнили Мой удел своими мерзостями.
I will repay them double for their wickedness and their sin, because they have defiled my land with the lifeless forms of their vile images and have filled my inheritance with their detestable idols.”
О Господи, сила моя и крепость,
мое убежище в день беды,
к Тебе придут народы
от края земли и скажут:
«Наши отцы обладали лишь ложью,
ничтожными идолами, в которых нет пользы.
Lord, my strength and my fortress,
my refuge in time of distress,
to you the nations will come
from the ends of the earth and say,
“Our ancestors possessed nothing but false gods,
worthless idols that did them no good.
