    А теперь наноси себе глубокие раны,
    женщина, окруженная воинами.23
    Обложили нас осадой.
    Палкою по щеке
    будут бить израильского правителя.

    A Ruler from Bethlehem

    Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops; he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

    — Но ты, Вифлеем-Ефрафа,
    пусть ты мал средь городов24 Иудеи,
    из тебя Мне выйдет Тот,
    Кто будет править Израилем,
    Чье родословие ведется издревле,
    с давних времен.25

    (And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me [who is] to be Ruler in Israel: whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.)

    Итак, Он оставит их до поры,
    пока роженица не родит Того Правителя ;
    тогда Его оставшиеся братья
    вернутся к народу Израиля.

    Therefore will he give them up, until the time when she which travaileth shall have brought forth: and the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

    Он встанет и будет пасти Свое стадо
    в силе Господней,
    в величии имени Господа, Его Бога.
    Они будут жить в безопасности,
    ведь слава Его дойдет до края земли.

    And he shall stand and feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God. And they shall abide; for now shall he be great even unto the ends of the earth.

    Он будет их миром.26
    Если явятся в нашу страну ассирийцы
    и будут топтать наши крепости,
    мы поднимем на них семерых правителей27
    и даже восьмерых вождей.

    And this [man] shall be Peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.

    Они будут править мечом в земле ассирийской,
    обнаженным мечом — в земле Нимрода.28
    Правитель избавит нас от ассирийцев,
    если те явятся в нашу страну
    и будут нарушать ее границы.

    And they shall waste the land of Asshur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof; and he shall deliver [us] from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

    И будут уцелевшие Иакова
    среди многих народов,
    точно роса от Господа,
    словно ливень на зелени,
    который ни от кого не зависит
    и не подвластен смертным.

    The Remnant of Jacob

    And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, neither waiteth for the sons of men.

    Уцелевшие Иакова будут между народами,
    среди многих народов,
    точно лев среди лесного зверья,
    словно молодой лев между овечьих отар,
    что, подкравшись, набрасывается и разрывает на куски,
    и никто не в силах избавить от него.

    And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

    Твоя рука будет поднята против твоих неприятелей,
    все твои враги будут истреблены.

    Thy hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
  • 10
    — В тот день, — возвещает Господь, —

    Я погублю у тебя коней
    и сломаю твои колесницы.

    And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots.

    Я погублю города на твоей земле
    и разрушу все твои крепости.

    And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and overthrow all thy strongholds.

    Я погублю твое чародейство,
    и волхвов у тебя не станет.

    And I will cut off sorceries out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no soothsayers.
  • 13

    Я погублю твои изваяния
    и твои священные камни;
    ты больше не будешь поклоняться
    сделанному твоими руками.

    Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy statues out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more bow down to the work of thy hands.

    Я искореню столбы Ашеры29
    и разрушу твои города.

    And I will pluck up thine Asherahs out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.

    В гневе и ярости Я отомщу народам,
    которые Меня не послушались.

    And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard of.
