Jacob’s Return to Bethel

Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

Иаков сказал своей семье и всем своим слугам: "Уничтожьте всех чужих богов из дерева и металла, которые у вас есть, и очиститесь. Наденьте на себя чистую одежду.

And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

Мы уходим отсюда и пойдём в Вефиль. Там я поставлю алтарь Богу, который помог мне в час моих бедствий, и который был со мной, куда бы я ни шёл".

Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone.”

И все отдали Иакову всех чужих богов, которые у них были, и все кольца, которые носили в ушах, и Иаков закопал всё это под дубом у города, называвшегося Сихем.

So they gave Jacob all the foreign [a]gods which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.

And they journeyed, and the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.

Там он поставил алтарь и назвал это место Эл-Вефиль, выбрав такое название потому, что на этом месте Бог впервые явился ему, когда он убегал от брата.

And he built an altar there and called the place [b]El Bethel, because there God appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother.

Там умерла Девора, кормилица Ревекки, и её похоронили под дубом в Вефиле и назвали то место Аллон Вакуф.

Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the terebinth tree. So the name of it was called [c]Allon Bachuth.

Then God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Padan Aram, and blessed him.

сказав: "Твоё имя Иаков, но Я изменю это имя: отныне ты больше не будешь зваться Иаковом, твоё новое имя будет Израиль". И вот Бог назвал его Израилем.

And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, but Israel shall be your name.” So He called his name Israel.

"Я — Всемогущий Бог, " — сказал ему Бог. — "Имей множество детей и умножайся, чтобы стать великим народом. От тебя пойдут другие народы и другие цари.

Also God said to him: “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body.

12

Я дал Аврааму и Исааку особую землю, теперь же отдаю эту землю тебе, а также и всему твоему народу, который будет жить после тебя".

The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land.”

После этого Бог ушёл оттуда,

Then God went[d] up from him in the place where He talked with him.

14

Иаков же поставил на том месте каменный памятник и освятил его, вылив на него вино и масло.

So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He talked with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it.

15

Это место было особое, потому что там Бог говорил с Иаковом, и Иаков назвал его Вефилем.

And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel.

16

Иаков и все, кто был с ним, отправились из Вефиля. И когда ещё оставалось некоторое расстояние до Ефрафы, у Рахили начались роды.

Death of Rachel

Then they journeyed from Bethel. And when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel labored in childbirth, and she had hard labor.

Роды были очень тяжелые, и Рахиль мучилась в страшной боли. Кормилица её заметила это и сказала: "Не бойся, Рахиль, у тебя родится ещё один сын".

Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, “Do not fear; you will have this son also.”

Рахиль умерла, рожая этого сына и, умирая, дала сыну имя Бенони, но Иаков назвал его Вениамином.

And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name [e]Ben-Oni; but his father called him [f]Benjamin.

Рахиль похоронили у дороги в Ефрафу, то есть Вифлеем,

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

и Иаков поставил на могиле Рахили памятник, который стоит там и поныне.

And Jacob set a pillar on her grave, which is the pillar of Rachel’s grave to this day.

Потом Израиль продолжал свой путь, и раскинул свой стан у башни Гадер.

Then Israel journeyed and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Eder.

Израиль оставался там недолго, но пока он был там, Рувим переспал со служанкой Израиля Валлой. Услышав об этом, Израиль очень рассердился. У Иакова (Израиля) было 12 сыновей.

And it happened, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard about it.
Jacob’s Twelve Sons

Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

Сыновья Иакова и Лии: первенец Иакова Рувим, Симеон, Левий, Иуда, Иссахар и Завулон.

the sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun;

24

Сыновья Иакова и Рахили: Иосиф и Вениамин.

the sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin;

25

Сыновья Иакова и Валлы, служанки Рахили, были: Дан и Неффалим.

the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant, were Dan and Naphtali;

26

Сыновья Иакова и Зелфы, служанки Лии: Гад и Асир. Все они были сыновья Иакова (Израиля), родившиеся в Месопотамии.

and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant, were Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Padan Aram.

27

Иаков отправился к своему отцу Исааку в Мамре, в Кириаф-Арбу, то есть в Хеврон, туда, где жили Авраам и Исаак.

Death of Isaac

Then Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre, or Kirjath Arba[g] (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had dwelt.

Исаак жил до 180 лет,

Now the days of Isaac were one hundred and eighty years.

29

а потом ослабел и умер. Он прожил долгую полную жизнь, и сыновья Исав и Иаков похоронили его на том же месте, где был похоронен его отец.

So Isaac breathed his last and died, and was [h]gathered to his people, being old and full of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
