Water from the Rock
And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

и стали роптать: "Может, нам лучше было бы умереть перед Господом, как умерли наши братья! — сказали они. —
And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!
Зачем ты привёл народ Господний в эту пустыню? Ты хочешь, чтобы мы здесь все погибли вместе с нашим скотом!
And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?
Зачем ты вывел нас из Египта и привёл в это негодное место, где нет ни хлеба, ни фиг, ни винограда, ни гранатов, ни воды для питья?!"
And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.
И вот Моисей и Аарон пошли от толпы ко входу в шатёр собрания. Они пали ниц, и явилась им Слава Господняя.
And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
"Возьми дорожный посох брата твоего Аарона, и со всем народом пойди к той скале, и на глазах у них обратись к ней. И потечёт из скалы вода, и ты сможешь напоить водой народ и скот ваш".
Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
Дорожный посох был перед Господом, и Моисей взял его, как повелел Господь.
And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
Моисей и Аарон велели всему народу собраться перед скалой, и Моисей сказал: "Люди, вы постоянно ропщете, так слушайте же меня! Я сделаю так, что из этой скалы потечёт вода".
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
Моисей поднял руку и два раза ударил по скале; из скалы потекла вода, и весь народ и скот пили эту воду.
And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
Господь же сказал Моисею и Аарону: "Весь израильский народ собрался вокруг, но ты не оказал Мне почести, не показал израильскому народу, что сила произвести эту воду была у тебя от Меня, не показал народу, что веришь в Меня. Я дам этому народу обещанную землю, но не ты приведёшь в неё народ!"
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
То место называлось водами Меривы. В том месте израильский народ вступил в распрю с Господом, и в этом месте Господь явил им святость Свою.
This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.
Во время пребывания в Кадесе Моисей отправил несколько человек с посланием к царю Едомскому, в котором говорилось: "Брат твой, израильский народ, обращается к тебе! Ты знаешь обо всех бедах, которые мы претерпели.
Edom Refuses Passage
And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:

Много, много лет тому назад наши предки ушли в Египет, и жили мы там долгие годы. Египетский народ жестоко обходился с нами,
How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:
но мы просили Господа о помощи, и Господь услышал нас, послал нам на помощь Ангела и вывел нас из Египта. И вот мы здесь, в Кадесе, где начинается твоя земля,
And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:
и просим тебя: разреши нам пройти через твою страну. Мы не пойдём через твои поля и виноградники и не будем пить воду из твоих колодцев, а пройдём по царской дороге, не сворачивая ни налево, ни направо, пока не пройдём через твою страну".
Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.
Но Едом ответил: "Не ходите через нашу землю, а если пойдёте, мы сразимся с вами мечами".
And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.
Израильский народ ответил: "Мы пройдём большой дорогой. Если наш скот будет пить вашу воду, мы вам заплатим. Мы хотим только пройти через вашу страну, мы не хотим забрать её себе".
And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.
И снова ответил Едом: "Мы не позволим вам пройти через нашу страну". И они собрали большую, сильную армию и вышли сражаться с израильским народом.
And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.
Итак, Едом отказался разрешить израильскому народу пройти через свою страну, и израильский народ пошёл другой дорогой.
Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.
Израильский народ отправился из Кадеса к горе Ор,
The Death of Aaron
And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying,
"Иди соединись со своими предками. Аарон не войдёт в землю, обещанную Мной израильскому народу. Я говорю это тебе, Моисей, ибо вы оба — и ты, и Аарон, не исполнили до конца повеление, которое Я дал у вод Меривы.
Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
Приведи Аарона и сына его, Елеазара, к горе Ор,
Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor:
возьми у Аарона его особые одежды и облеки в них сына его, Елеазара. Там, в горах, Аарон умрёт и соединится со своими предками".
And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.
Моисей исполнил повеление Господнее: Моисей, Аарон и Елеазар на глазах у всего израильского народа поднялись на гору Ор,
And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
Моисей снял с Аарона его особые одежды и облёк в эти одежды сына его, Елеазара. И там, на вершине горы, Аарон умер, а Моисей с Елеазаром спустились с горы вниз.
And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.
