Christ's Coming Judgment
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

Помните слова, сказанные в прошлом святыми пророками, и заповедь нашего Господа и Спасителя, данную вам через апостолов.
That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
Прежде всего вы должны понять, что в последние дни появится немало наглых насмешников, которые будут поступать соответственно своим желаниям
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
и станут говорить: "Где обещанное второе пришествия Христа? Ибо с самой смерти предков наших всё продолжает идти своим чередом, как и раньше, от начала творения!".
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
Но утверждая такое, они забывают, что небо и земля существовали издавна. Земля создана из воды и существует благодаря воде по велению Божьему.
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
Те же силы действовали, когда в далёком прошлом мир был затоплен водой и разрушен.
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
Небеса же и земля, которые существуют сейчас, по тому же самому велению сохранены, чтобы быть уничтожены огнём. Сохраняются они до того дня, когда неблагочестивые люди будут осуждены и уничтожены.
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
Но не забывайте одного, дорогие друзья: с Богом день, словно тысяча лет, а тысяча лет, словно один день.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Господь не откладывает исполнение обещания Своего, как считают некоторые, Он лишь проявляет к вам терпение, ибо не хочет ничьего уничтожения. Наоборот, Он хочет, чтобы все покаялись и перестали грешить.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Но день пришествия Господа подкрадётся неожиданно, словно вор. В этот день с грохотом исчезнут небеса, тела небесные будут уничтожены огнём, а земля вместе со всем, что на ней, будет сожжена.

Так как всё будет разрушено таким образом, то подумайте, какими вам следует быть. Вы должны вести жизнь святую, посвящённую Богу, и совершать благочестивые деяния.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Уповайте на приход дня Божьего и торопите приход его. С приходом его небеса будут уничтожены огнём, и тела небесные расплавятся от жара.
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Но, по обещанию Божьему, ожидаем мы новых небес и новой земли, где обитает праведность.
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Посему, друзья дорогие, ожидая этого, делайте всё, что в силах ваших, чтобы предстать пред Богом безупречными, незапятнанными и умиротворёнными.
Final Exhortations
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

И помните, что терпение Господа нашего означает спасение, как и писал вам наш возлюбленный брат Павел в мудрости своей, дарованной Богом.
And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
В этом письме, как и во всех остальных, он говорит об этом. В этих письмах есть некоторые вещи, которые трудно понять и которые невежественные и нестойкие извращают, как извращают они и другие Писания, навлекая этим на себя погибель.
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
Итак, друзья любимые, зная это заранее, остерегайтесь, чтобы вас не свели с пути ошибки беззаконных, и смотрите, чтобы вы не отошли от того, на чём твердо стоите.
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
