When King Jabin of Hazor heard what had happened, he sent messages to the following kings: King Jobab of Madon; the king of Shimron; the king of Acshaph;

и ко всем царям, жившим на севере в горной стране и в пустыне с южной стороны Хиннарофа.
Он послал к царям низменных местностей и к царю в Нафоф-Доре, у моря, к царям хананеев, которые жили на востоке и на западе. the kings of Canaan, both east and west; the kings of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites in the towns on the slopes of Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah.
И вот армии всех этих царей собрались вместе. У них было множество воинов, коней и колесниц, там было столько народа, сколько песчинок на морском берегу.
All these kings came out to fight. Their combined armies formed a vast horde. And with all their horses and chariots, they covered the landscape like the sand on the seashore.
Все эти цари встретились у ручья Мером. Они объединили свои армии в один лагерь, чтобы сразиться с Израилем.
The kings joined forces and established their camp around the water near Merom to fight against Israel.
И сказал тогда Господь Иисусу: "Не бойся этой армии. Я предам их в твои руки. Завтра к этому времени ты перебьёшь их всех. Ты перережешь ноги их коням и сожжёшь их колесницы".
Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them. By this time tomorrow I will hand all of them over to Israel as dead men. Then you must cripple their horses and burn their chariots.”
Иисус и вся его армия напали на врагов и атаковали их у реки Мером.
So Joshua and all his fighting men traveled to the water near Merom and attacked suddenly.
Господь предал их в руки Израиля, и израильская армия поразила их и преследовала до Великого Сидона, до Мисрефоф-Маима и до долины Мицфы к востоку. Армия Израиля сражалась до тех пор, пока не осталось в живых ни одного врага.
And the LORD gave them victory over their enemies. The Israelites chased them as far as Greater Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward into the valley of Mizpah, until not one enemy warrior was left alive.
Иисус сделал то, что сказал ему Господь. Он перерезал ноги вражеским коням и сжёг их колесницы.
Then Joshua crippled the horses and burned all the chariots, as the LORD had instructed.
Затем Иисус вернулся, покорил город Асор и убил царя Асора (Асор был главою всех царств, борющихся против Израиля).
Joshua then turned back and captured Hazor and killed its king. (Hazor had at one time been the capital of all these kingdoms.)
Израильская армия убила всех до единого в этом городе. Город был сожжён и там не осталось ни одной души.
Иисус захватил все эти города, полностью их разрушил и убил всех их царей. Он сделал так, как повелел Моисей, раб Господа.
Joshua slaughtered all the other kings and their people, completely destroying them, just as Moses, the servant of the LORD, had commanded.
Но армия Израиля не сожгла города, находящиеся на возвышенностях, кроме Асора. Иисус сжёг этот город.
But the Israelites did not burn any of the towns built on mounds except Hazor, which Joshua burned.
Израильтяне взяли себе всё, что нашли в этих городах, и весь скот, людей же всех перебили, не оставив в живых ни одной души.
And the Israelites took all the plunder and livestock of the ravaged towns for themselves. But they killed all the people, leaving no survivors.
Как задолго до этого Господь повелел Моисею, так Моисей заповедал это Иисусу; Иисус же послушался Бога и сделал всё, что Господь повелел Моисею.
As the LORD had commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua. And Joshua did as he was told, carefully obeying all the commands that the LORD had given to Moses.
Так Иисус победил все народы по всей стране. Он овладел всей нагорной землёй, всем Негевом, землёй Гошен, западными склонами, горами Израиля и всеми холмами вокруг них.
Иисус овладел всей землёй от горы Халак, поднимающейся к Сеиру, до Ваал-Гада в долине Ливана, у горы Ермон. Иисус захватил всех царей этой земли и убил их.
The Israelite territory now extended all the way from Mount Halak, which leads up to Seir in the south, as far north as Baal-gad at the foot of Mount Hermon in the valley of Lebanon. Joshua killed all the kings of those territories,
Только один город во всей этой земле заключил мир с Израилем, город евеев Гаваон. Все другие города были захвачены ими в сражении.
No one in this region made peace with the Israelites except the Hivites of Gibeon. All the others were defeated.
Господь хотел, чтобы эти народы думали, что они сильны, и чтобы они сразились с Израилем. Тогда Господь мог безжалостно их истребить так, как Он повелел Моисею.
For the LORD hardened their hearts and caused them to fight the Israelites. So they were completely destroyed without mercy, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Народ енакимов жил на горе в Хевроне, в Давире, в Анаве и Иуде. Иисус полностью истребил все эти народы и их города.
During this period Joshua destroyed all the descendants of Anak, who lived in the hill country of Hebron, Debir, Anab, and the entire hill country of Judah and Israel. He killed them all and completely destroyed their towns.
В земле Израиля не осталось ни одного енакима. Они остались только в Газе, Гефе и в Азоте.
None of the descendants of Anak were left in all the land of Israel, though some still remained in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod.
Иисус захватил всю землю Израиля, как Господь повелел Моисею задолго до этого. Господь отдал эту землю Израилю, как и обещал, и Иисус разделил её между коленами Израиля. Наконец сражения закончились, и на этой земле воцарился мир.
So Joshua took control of the entire land, just as the LORD had instructed Moses. He gave it to the people of Israel as their special possession, dividing the land among the tribes. So the land finally had rest from war.
