Die beiden Männer liefen ins Bergland und versteckten sich dort drei Tage. Ihre Verfolger suchten die ganze Strecke bis zum Jordan ab, fanden aber niemanden und kehrten schließlich nach Jericho zurück.

Sie aber gingen hin und kamen aufs Gebirge und blieben drei Tage daselbst, bis daß die wiederkamen, die ihnen nachjagten. Denn sie hatten sie gesucht auf allen Straßen, und doch nicht gefunden.

Die Männer gingen also und kamen ins Gebirge; dort blieben sie drei Tage, bis die Verfolger in die Stadt zurückgekehrt waren. Die Verfolger hatten sie überall gesucht, aber nicht gefunden.
