»Die haben wir von den Amalekitern mitgebracht«, antwortete Saul. »Die Soldaten wollten die besten Rinder, Schafe und Ziegen nicht einfach niedermetzeln. Sie haben die Tiere verschont, um sie dem HERRN, deinem Gott, als Opfer darzubringen. Doch sonst haben wir alles und jeden umgebracht.«

Saul sprach: Von den Amalekitern haben sie sie gebracht; denn das Volk verschonte die besten Schafe und Rinder um des Opfers willen des HERRN, deines Gottes; das andere haben wir verbannt.

Saul antwortete: Man hat sie aus Amalek mitgebracht, weil das Volk die besten von den Schafen und Rindern geschont hat, um sie dem HERRN, deinem Gott, zu opfern. Das Übrige haben wir zum Banngut gemacht.
