    Третього ж дня весілля відбувалося в Кані Галилейській, і була там мати Ісусова.

    The Wedding at Cana

    On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

    Отож запрошено на те весілля й Ісуса та його учнів.

    Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.

    Коли ж не вистачило вина, мати Ісусова й каже до нього: «Вина в них нема.»
  • 3
    When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”
  • 4
    Відрік їй Ісус: «Що мені, жінко, — а й тобі? Таж не прийшла година моя!»
  • 4
    And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”
  • 5
    Але мати його мовила до слуг: «Що лиш скаже вам, — робіть.»
  • 5
    His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
  • 6
    Було ж там шестеро кам'яних посудин на воду, щоб очищуватися по-юдейському; кожна вміщала дві або три мірки.

    Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.a
  • 7
    Сказав їм Ісус: «Наповніть посудини водою.» Вони й виповнили їх по вінця.

    Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
  • 8
    А він їм далі каже: «Зачерпніть тепер та й несіть до старости весільного.» Тож понесли.

    And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.
  • 9
    Коли ж покуштував староста воду, що на вино обернулась, — а не знав же, звідки воно взялося: слуги лише знали, котрі води зачерпнули були, — то закликав староста молодого
  • 9
    When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom
  • 10
    і до нього мовив: «Всяк чоловік добре вино спершу подає, а гірше, — як уп'ються. Ти ж приховав добре вино аж он по сю пору.»

    and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

    Ось такий чудес початок учинив Ісус у Кані Галилейській, і велич тим свою об'явив, — тож і учні його увірували в нього.

    This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

    По тому ж подався він у Капернаум, він сам і його мати й брати та учні його, і перебули там декілька днів.

    After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothersb and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

    Незабаром була юдейська Пасха, тож Ісус вирушив до Єрусалиму

    Jesus Cleanses the Temple

    The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

    і зустрів у храмі тих, що продавали волів, овець і голубів, а й міняйли сиділи теж.

    In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there.
  • 15
    І зробивши бич із мотуззя, повиганяв усіх із храму, геть із вівцями й волами, гроші міняйлів порозсипав і столи поперекидав.

    And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.

    Продавцям же голубів сказав: «Заберіть оте звідси, не робіть дому Отця мого торговим домом!»

    And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”

    Пригадали тоді його учні, що написано було: «Ревність дому твого поїдатиме мене».

    His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
  • 18
    А юдеї озвались і мовили до нього: «Яким знаком доведеш, що таке чиниш?»

    So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?”
  • 19
    Ісус відрік їм у відповідь: «Зруйнуйте храм цей, а я його за три дні поставлю.»

    Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
  • 20
    Юдеї ж відказали: «Будовано храм цей сорок і шість років, а ти його поставиш за три дні?»

    The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple,c and will you raise it up in three days?”
  • 21
    Та він говорив про храм свого тіла,
  • 21
    But he was speaking about the temple of his body.
  • 22
    тож коли воскрес із мертвих, то й пригадали його учні, що він оте говорив їм, і увірували Писанню та слову, яке Ісус був вирік.

    When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

    А коли був він на свято Пасхи в Єрусалимі, то численні, бачивши його чуда, які він творив, увірували в його ім'я.

    Jesus Knows What Is in Man

    Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.

    Але не звірявсь їм Ісус, бо знав усіх їх,

    But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people
  • 25
    а й потреби не мав, щоб хтось йому свідчив про людину, відав бо сам, що міститься в людині.

    and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.
