І вів Еліуй далїй свою річ і говорив:

Elihu Reminds Job of God's Justice

Elihu spake moreover, and said,

Не вже ж видиться тобі се справедливим, що ти сказав: Я праведнїйший, анїж сам Бог?

Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?

Ти бо сказав: що за користь менї, й що прибуло б менї з того навперід, як і послї того, як би я согрішив?

For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

Я відкажу й самому тобі й твоїм друзям з тобою:

I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

Глянь лиш на небо й побач; глянь на хмарі, що над тобою.

Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

Як ти грішиш, що за шкоду йому причиняєш? і хоч би ти проступки твої незнати як збільшив, то що вдїєш ти йому?

If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

Коли ти праведен, що ж даєш йому? або що він з руки в тебе візьме?

If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

Безбожність твоя причинить шкоди тільки чоловікові, та й праведність твоя буде хосенна синові чоловічому.

Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

Під силою угнїтаючих стогнуть угнетені й нарікають під рокою можних;

By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

Та нїхто не говорить: Де Бог, мій сотворитель, що його й в ночі осьпівують?

But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

Що більш, як зьвіррє земне, нас навчає, і більш, як птаство піднебесне, врозумляє?

Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

Хоч і кричать, не відказує, задля гординї злих людей.

There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

Але се неправда, будьто Бог не чує й Вседержитель не вглядає в те.

Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

Хоч ти й сказав, що не бачиш його, та суд уже готовий у його, — жди його.

Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

Але тепер, тим що гнїв Божий не навідав його, й він іще не спізнав його по всїй лютостї його,

But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

Відчинив Йов легкодушно уста свої й розкидає нерозважно словами.

Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
