Loving Discipline and Knowledge
Whoso loveth discipline loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

Добрящий знайде в Господа ласку, а чоловіка підступного він осудить.
A good [man] obtaineth favour of Jehovah; but a man of mischievous devices will he condemn.
Не скріпить себе чоловік безбожеством, а корінь праведних не схитнеться.
A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Жена честивая — вінець чоловікові, ледача ж — мов та гниль у костях його.
A woman of worth is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Думки у праведних — про те, що правда, а задуми безбожних — зрада.
The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Безбожних слова — укладаннє засїдок, щоб кров пролити, уста ж праведних — щоб рятувати їх.
The words of the wicked are a lying-in-wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Доторкнись, нещастє безбожних — а вже й нема їх, а дім праведних стоїть.
Overthrow the wicked, and they are no [more]; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
О скілько розумний чоловік, хвалять його, а переворотний серцем буде в погордї.
A man is commended according to his wisdom; but he that is of a perverted heart shall be despised.
Лучше бути собі простим і заробляти на себе, нїж величати себе знатним, а не мати хлїба.
Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
Праведний журиться й про життє скотини своєї, серце ж безбожних жорстоке.
A righteous man is concerned for the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Хто поле своє порає, той має достаток хлїба, хто ж гає марно час, той розуму не має.
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless is void of understanding.
Безбожний надиться на зло, немов полює, та корінь праведних держиться твердо.
The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]; but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
Безбожний замотується в слова уст своїх; та праведник вийде з біди.
In the transgression of the lips is an evil snare; but a righteous [man] shall go forth out of trouble.
Із плодів уст своїх насичуєсь чоловік добром, і по вчинках рук його — нагорода йому.
A man is satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
Дурному шлях його здається простим, розумен же той, хто слухає поради.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
Дурний досадує й зараз признається, розумний же мовчки скриває зневагу.
The vexation of the fool is presently known; but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
Хто говорить (на судї) те, що, знає, той говорить правду, у сьвідка же льживого — омана.
He that uttereth truth sheweth forth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
Инший пустослов ранить язиком, мов мечем, язик же мудрий — загоює.
There is that babbleth like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
Уста правдомовні во віки пробувають, а язик ложний — на хвилину.
The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Омана — в серцї в тих, що лихо замишляють; а радость у тих, хто мир совітує.
Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Праведному біди нїякої не буде, а в беззаконників нещастя буде повно.
There shall no evil happen to a righteous [man]; but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
Гидота в Господа уста, що лож сплїтають, хто ж правду говорить, йому благоугоден.
Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.
Розсудливий чоловік ховає мовчки знаннє, дурного ж серце виголошує дурноту.
A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of the foolish proclaimeth folly.
Трудящого рука доробиться пановання, а лїнива буде підданою.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful [hand] shall be under tribute.
Туга в серцї придавлює людину, та слово приязне її розвеселяє.
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.
Праведний показує ближньому свойму дорогу, а дорога безбожних веде його на манівцї.
The righteous guideth his neighbour; but the way of the wicked misleadeth them.
Лїнивому свого влову не жарити, а добро людини роботящої має велику цїну.
The slothful roasteth not what he took in hunting; but man's precious substance is to the diligent.
