    Сталось у трийцятому роцї, у четвертому місяцї, на пятий день місяця, як був я між полонянами над Ховар-річкою, одверзлись небеса, й я побачив видива Божі.

    Ezekiel’s Vision of God

    Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions[a] of God.

    On the fifth day of the month, which was in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,

    Надійшло слово Господнє до Езекиїла Вузієнка, сьвященника, в Халдейській землї, при Ховар-річцї, й зійшла на його сила Господня.

    the word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the [b]Chaldeans by the River Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.

    Бачив же я — схопився завірухою вітер від півночі, знялась величезна хмара й клубом огонь, та проміннє навкруги його, а з середини його, наче блискуча мідь ув огнї,

    Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

    А з него показалась подобина чотирьох зьвірят; вид же їх був такий: образ їх був чоловічий.

    Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.

    І в кожного було чотирі обличчя, і в кожного — четверо крил.

    Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings.

    А ноги в їх були прості, а ступнї в їх були, як у телця, й бризькали вони іскрами, як розпалена мідь бризькає.

    Their [c]legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves’ feet. They sparkled like the color of burnished bronze.

    А під крильми в їх із чотирьох боків були людські руки; й обличчя у них і крила в них — у всїх чотирьох.

    The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings.

    А крильми торкались вони одно до одного; обличчя й крила в їх не повертались, як ійшли вони: кожне простувало перед себе.

    Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight forward.

    Подоба обличь їх: — зпереду було лице людське, правобіч — лице левине, лївобіч — лице бичаче в усїх чотирьох, понад тими — лице орлове в усїх чотирьох;

    As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle.

    І лиця їх і крила їх угорі були роздїлені, та в кожного по двоє крил сходилось одно з одним, а двоє вкривали тїло їм.

    Thus were their faces. Their wings stretched upward; two wings of each one touched one another, and two covered their bodies.

    І йшли вони, кожен у сторону перед себе; куди поривав їх дух, туди й ійшли вони; йдучи ж, не повертались.

    And each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went.

    А вид тих животин був, наче жар огняний, як смолоскипи; огонь ходив між тими животинами сюди й туди, й блищав огонь вельми ясно, й вилїтали з огню блискавки.

    As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning.

    І ввихаллись животини сюди й туди, наче блискавиця мигає.

    And the living creatures ran back and forth, in appearance like a flash of lightning.

    І придивлявся я тим животинам, аж ось — на землї коло тих животин по одному колесу перед чотирьома лицями їх.

    Now as I looked at the living creatures, behold, a wheel was on the earth beside each living creature with its four faces.

    І були колеса видом і роботою, наче блискучий хризолит, і всї четверо були однаковісїнькі, а по вигляду їх і по спорудї здавалось, неначе одно колесо було в другому колесї.

    The appearance of the wheels and their workings was like the color of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

    А йдучи, йшли вони на чотирі боки; не звертали на бік, ідучи.

    When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went.

    Обіддє ж їх — високе й страшне, й було повно очок в обіддї навкруги в усїх чотирьох.

    As for their rims, they were so high they were awesome; and their rims were full of eyes, all around the four of them.

    І як ійшли животини, так ійшли й колеса коло їх, а як вони здіймались угору від землї, здіймались і колеса.

    When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

    Куди хотїв ійти дух, туди йшли й вони, й здіймались колеса заразом із ними; дух бо тих животин був у колесах.

    Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, because there the spirit went; and the wheels were lifted together with them, for the spirit of the [d]living creatures was in the wheels.

    Коли ті йшли, так ійшли й колеса, а як ті стояли, то стояли й вони, як же ті здіймались від землї, здіймались і колеса заразом із ними; бо дух животин був у колесах.

    When those went, these went; when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up together with them, for the spirit of the [e]living creatures was in the wheels.

    А над головами в животин була подобина твердинї, блискуча, як подобина пречудного кришталю, що понад головами в їх розпростирався.

    The likeness of the [f]firmament above the heads of the [g]living creatures was like the color of an awesome crystal, stretched out over their heads.

    А під твердинею розпростирались їх крила, просто одно до другого, й в кожної було їх по двоє, що вкривали їм тїло.

    And under the firmament their wings spread out straight, one toward another. Each one had two which covered one side, and each one had two which covered the other side of the body.

    І як вони йшли, чув я шум їх крил, нїби бурханнє великої води, неначе грім Всемогучого, голосний шум, як се гуде в військовому таборі; а коли вони з'упинялись, то крила спускали.

    When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings.

    Бо як давався чути голос з понад твердинї, що була над головами в їх, тодї вони з'упинялись і опускали крила.

    A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings.

    А понад твердинею, що була над головами в їх, була подобина престолу, з вигляду, як би з каменя сафиру, а над подобинею престолу видко було подобину чоловіка, що седить на йому.

    And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it.

    І видїв я наче палаючу мідь, як огняне сяєво в серединї його кругом; від поясницї його й висше, та й від виду поясницї його й низше бачив я, наче огонь, і було проміннє навкруги.

    Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around.

    Якою буває веселка на облаках в дощовий день, такий вид мало те сяєво навкруги.

    Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.
    Ezekiel Sent to Rebellious Israel

    So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.
