David's Last Song
Now these are the last words of David: David the son of Jesse saith, And the man who was raised up on high, The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel saith,

Дух Господній гово́рить в мені, а слово Його — на моїм язику́!
The Spirit of Jehovah spoke by me, And his word was on my tongue.
Сказав Бог Ізраїлів, Скеля Ізраїлева говорила мені: пану́ючий серед людей, — справедливий панує у Божім страху́!
The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me, The ruler among men shall be just, Ruling in the fear of God;
І він буде, як світло пора́нку безхма́рного, коли сонце вихо́дить уранці, і як з бли́ску трава вироста́є з землі по дощі!
And [he shall be] as the light or the morning, [like] the rising of the sun, A morning without clouds; [When] from the sunshine, after rain, The green grass springeth from the earth.
Чи мій дім не такий перед Богом? Вічного бо запові́та в усьому мені там укла́дено — і він стереже́ться, бо він усе спасі́ння моє й усе жада́ння! Хіба Він не дасть, щоб він виріс?
Although my house be not so before God, Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in every way and sure; For [this is] all my salvation, and every desire, Although he make [it] not to grow.
А нечестивий, як те́рен, відки́нений, і вони всі, бо рукою його не беруть.
But [the sons] of Belial [are] all of them as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands;
А хто хоче до них доторкну́тись, нехай запасе́ться залізом чи де́ржаком спи́са, і на місці своїм огнем будуть попа́лені!“
And the man that will touch them provideth himself with iron and the staff of a spear; And they shall be utterly burned with fire in [their] place.
А оце імена Давидових ли́царів: Йошев-Башшевет, тахкемонець, голова ґвардії, — він вимахував своїм держако́м одним ра́зом на вісім сотень побитих.
David's Mighty Men
These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Joseb-Bassebeth, Tachkemonite the chief of the captains: he was Adino the Eznite; he [fought] against eight hundred, slain [by him] at one time.

По ньому Елеаза́р, син Додо, сина Ахохі, був серед трьох лицарів з Давидом. Коли филисти́мляни зневажа́ли ізраїльтян, що зібралися там на війну, і повтікали всі ізра́їльтяни,
And after him, Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite: he was one of the three mighty men with David, when they had defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone up.
він устав, та й ударив на филисти́млян, аж змучилася рука його, і приліпилася рука його до меча. І зробив Господь велике спасі́ння того дня, а наро́д вертався за ним тільки на грабува́ння.
He arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave to the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
А по ньому Шамма, син Аґе, гарарянин. І зібралися филисти́мляни до Лехи, а там була діля́нка поля, повна сочеви́ці, а наро́д повтікав перед филисти́млянами.
And after him, Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite: the Philistines were gathered into a troop, and there was there a plot of ground full of lentils, and the people had fled before the Philistines;
І став він посере́дині тієї діля́нки та й врятував її, а филисти́млян побив. І зробив Господь велике спасі́ння.
and he stood in the midst of the plot and delivered it, and smote the Philistines, and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance.
І зійшли троє з тридцяти напоча́тку, і прийшли в жнива́ до Давида, до твердині Адуллам. А громада филисти́млян таборува́ла в долині Рефаїм.
And three of the thirty chiefs went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam, when the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
Давид же тоді був у твердині, а залога филистимська була тоді в Віфлеємі.
And David was then in the stronghold; and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.
І спра́гнув Давид та й сказав: „Хто напо́їть мене водою з криниці, що в брамі?“
And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me to drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate!
I про́дерлися ці три ли́царі до филистимського табо́ру, і зачерпну́ли води з віфлеємської криниці, що в брамі. І вони ви́несли, і прине́сли до Давида, та він не схотів її пити, — і вилив її для Господа,
And the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; however he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah.
та й сказав: „Борони мене, Господи, чинити таке! Чи я буду пити кров тих му́жів, що ходили, наража́ючи життям своїм? І не хотів він пити її... Оце зроби́ли три ці ли́царі.
And he said, Be it far from me, Jehovah, that I should do this thing! is it not the blood of the men that went at the risk of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
А Авіша́й, брат Йоава, Церуїного сина, — він голова цих тридцяти. І він вимахував своїм списо́м над трьо́ма сотнями, що побив. І він мав славу серед тих трьох.
And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was the chief of three; and he brandished his spear against three hundred and slew them; and he had a name among the three.
Із тих тридцятьо́х він був найбільше поважа́ний, і став він їм за провідника́. А до тих трьох не належав.
Was he not most honourable of three? and he was their captain; but he did not attain to the [first] three.
А Бена́я, син Єгоядин, син хороброго мужа, багаточи́нний, з Кавцеїлу, побив двох синів Аріїла моавського. І він зійшов, і забив лева в сере́дині ями сніжного дня.
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, son of a valiant man, great in exploits, of Kabzeel: he it was that smote two lions of Moab; and he went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.
Також побив він одного єги́птянина, мужа поставно́го, а в руці цього єги́птянина був спис. І зійшов він до нього з києм, і видер списа́ з руки того єги́птянина, — та й убив його списо́м його.
He also smote the Egyptian, an imposing man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
Оце зробив Беная, син Єгоядин, і його слава була серед тих трьох лицарів.
These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he had a name among the three mighty men.
З тих тридцяти він був поважні́ший, а до тих трьох не належав. І Давид призна́чив його до своєї таємної ради.
He was honoured above the thirty, but he did not attain to the [first] three. And David set him in his council.
Асаїл, Йоавів брат, серед тих тридцяти; Елханан, син Додів, із Віфлеєму;
Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
Хелец палтянин; Іра, син Іквешів, текоїтянин;
Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
Хелев, син Баанин, нетофатянин; Іттай, син Ріваїв, міґґів'атянин, сини Веніяминові;
Heleb the son of Baanah, the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,
Беная пір'ятонянин, Гіддай з Нахале-Ґаашу,
Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
Ел'яхба шаалвонянин, сини Яшемові, Йонатан,
Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
Шамма гарарянин; Ахіам, син Шарарів, арарянин;
Shammah the Ararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,
Еліфелет, син Ахасбаїв, сина маахатянина; Еліям, син Ахітофелів, ґіллонянин;
Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
Целек аммонеянин; Нахарай бееротянин, зброєноша Йоава, сина Церуїного;
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, the armour-bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
