А Азарія, син Оведів, — злинув на нього Дух Божий.
І вийшов він перед Асу та й сказав йому: „Послухайте мене, Асо та ввесь Юдо й Веніямине! Господь з вами, якщо бу́дете з Ним, і якщо бу́дете Його шукати, дасть вам знайти Себе. А якщо ви полишите Його, — полишить Він вас!
and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
У Ізраїля було́ багато днів, коли був він без правдивого Бога, і без священика-вчителя та без Зако́ну.
For a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest and without law,
І вернувся він в утиску своєму до Господа, Бога Ізраїлевого, і вони шукали Його, і Він дав їм знайти Себе.
but when in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.
А тими часа́ми не було споко́ю ані тому́, хто виходить, ані тому, хто входить, бо були великі неспоко́ї в усіх ме́шканців кра́ю.
In those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for great disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands.
І воював народ проти народу та місто проти міста, бо Бог побенте́жив їх усяким лихом.
They were broken in pieces. Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every sort of distress.
А ви будьте міцні, і нехай не слабнуть ваші ру́ки, бо є нагоро́да для вашої чи́нности!“
But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”
А коли Аса почув оці слова та пророцтво, яке говорив пророк Азарія, син Оведів, то зміцни́вся, і повикидав поганські гидо́ти зо всього кра́ю Юдиного та Веніяминового, та з міст, які він здобув з Єфремових гір, і відновив Господнього же́ртівника, що перед Господнім притво́ром.
As soon as Asa heard these words, the prophecy of Azariah the son of Oded, he took courage and put away the detestable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities that he had taken in the hill country of Ephraim, and he repaired the altar of the Lord that was in front of the vestibule of the house of the Lord.b
І зібрав він усього Юду й Веніямина та тих, що ме́шкали часо́во з ними з Єфрему, і з Манасії, і з Симеона, бо дуже багато поперебіга́ли до нього з Ізраїля, коли побачили, що з ним Господь, його Бог.
And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were residing with them, for great numbers had deserted to him from Israel when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.
І вони зібралися до Єрусалиму третього місяця, п'ятнадцятого року царюва́ння Аси.
They were gathered at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
І прине́сли вони того дня в жертву для Господа зо здо́бичі, яку поприво́дили: худоби великої — сім сотень, а худоби дрібно́ї — сім тисяч.
They sacrificed to the Lord on that day from the spoil that they had brought 700 oxen and 7,000 sheep.
І ввійшли вони в умову, щоб звертатися до Господа, Бога їхніх батьків, усім своїм серцем та всією своєю душею.
And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul,
А кожен, хто не буде звертатися до Господа, Бога Ізраїля, буде забитий від мало́го й аж до великого, від чоловіка й аж до жінки.
but that whoever would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.
І заприсягли́ся вони Господе́ві голосом сильним, і окликом, і су́рмами, і рога́ми.
They swore an oath to the Lord with a loud voice and with shouting and with trumpets and with horns.
І тішився ввесь Юда тією прися́гою, бо вони заприсягли́ся всім серцем своїм, і всією своєю волею шукали Його, і Він дав їм знайти Себе. І Господь дав їм мир навколо.
And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and had sought him with their whole desire, and he was found by them, and the Lord gave them rest all around.
І навіть Мааху, матір царя Аси, й її він позбавив права бути царицею, бо вона зробила була́ ідола Астарти. І Аса порубав бовва́на її, і розтер, і спалив у долині Кедро́н.
Even Maacah, his mother, King Asa removed from being queen mother because she had made a detestable image for Asherah. Asa cut down her image, crushed it, and burned it at the brook Kidron.
Та па́гірки не минулися в Ізраїля, але́ Асине серце було все з Господом по всі його дні.
But the high places were not taken out of Israel. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true all his days.
І вніс він до Божого дому святі речі свого батька та святі речі свої, — срібло, і золото, і по́суд.
And he brought into the house of God the sacred gifts of his father and his own sacred gifts, silver, and gold, and vessels.
