The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt,

„Оцей місяць для вас — поча́ток місяців. Він вам перший між місяцями року.
“This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.
Скажіть усій ізра́їльській громаді, говорячи: „У десятий день цього місяця нехай візьмуть собі кожен ягня́ за домом батьків, ягня на дім.
А коли буде той дім замали́й, щоб з'їсти ягня, то нехай ві́зьме він і найближчий до його дому сусід його за числом душ. Кожен згідно з їдо́ю своєю полі́читься на те ягня.
If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat.
Ягня у вас нехай бу́де без вади, самець, однорічне. Візьміть його з овечок та з кіз.
The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats.
І нехай буде воно для вас пильноване аж до чотирнадцятого дня цього місяця. І заколе його ці́лий збір Ізраїлевої громади на смерка́нні.
Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.
І нехай візьмуть тієї крови, і нехай покроплять на обидва бокові́ одві́рки, і на одві́рок верхній у тих дома́х, що бу́дуть їсти його в них.
Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.
І нехай їдять тієї ночі те м'ясо, спе́чене на огні, та опрі́сноки. Нехай їдять його на гірких травах.
That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.
Не їжте з нього сирово́го та варе́ного, зва́реного в воді, бо до їди тільки спе́чене на огні, голова його з голі́нками його та з нутро́м його.
Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire — with the head, legs and internal organs.
І не лишайте з нього нічого до ра́нку, а полишене з нього до ра́нку спаліть на огні.
Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it.
А їсти його бу́дете так: сте́гна ваші підпере́зані, взуття́ ваше на ногах ваших, а па́лиця ваша в руці вашій, і бу́дете ви їсти його в поспіху. Па́сха це для Господа!
This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover.
І перейду Я тієї ночі в єгипетськім краї, і повбиваю в єгипетській землі кожного перворідного від люди́ни аж до скотини. А над усіма єгипетськими бога́ми вчиню́ Я суд. Я — Господь!
“On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.
І буде та кров вам знаком на тих домах, що там ви, — і побачу ту кров, і обмину вас. І не буде між вами згу́бної пора́зи, коли Я вбиватиму в єгипетськім краї.
The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.
І стане той день для вас па́м'яткою, і бу́дете святкувати його, як свято для Господа на всі роди ваші! Як постанову вічну бу́дете святкувати його!
“This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord — a lasting ordinance.
Сім днів бу́дете їсти опрі́сноки. Але́ першого дня зро́бите, щоб не було́ ква́шеного в ваших домах, бо кожен, хто їстиме ква́шене, — від дня першого аж до дня сьомого, — то буде ви́тята душа та з Ізраїля.
For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel.
А першого дня бу́дуть у вас священні збори, і сьомого дня священні збори. Жодна праця не буде робитися в них, тільки що́ їсти кожній душі, те єдине роби́тимете ви.
On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat; that is all you may do.
І ви будете доде́ржувати опрі́сноків, бо саме того дня Я вивів війська ваші з єгипетського краю. І бу́дете доде́ржувати того дня в ваших родах, як постанови вічної.
“Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.
Першого місяця, чотирна́дцятого дня місяця бу́дете їсти опрісноки аж до вечора дня двадцять першого того ж місяця.
In the first month you are to eat bread made without yeast, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day.
Сім день ква́шене не буде знахо́дитися в ваших дома́х, бо кожен, хто їстиме квашене, то буде ви́тята душа та з Ізраїльської громади, чи то серед прихо́дьків, чи то тих, хто народився у кра́ї.
For seven days no yeast is to be found in your houses. And anyone, whether foreigner or native-born, who eats anything with yeast in it must be cut off from the community of Israel.
Жодного ква́шеного не бу́дете їсти в усіх ваших оселях, — будете їсти опрі́сноки!“
Eat nothing made with yeast. Wherever you live, you must eat unleavened bread.”
І покликав Мойсей усіх старши́х Ізраїлевих, та й промовив до них: „Спровадьте й візьміть собі дрібну худо́бину за роди́нами вашими, і заколіть па́сху.
Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go at once and select the animals for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb.
І візьміть в'язку ісо́пу й умочіть у кров, що в посу́дині, і доторкніться горі́шнього одві́рка й двох одвірків бічни́х кров'ю, що в посудині. А ви, — ніхто не вийдете з дверей дому свого аж до ра́нку!
Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning.
І пере́йде Господь ударити Єгипет, і побачить ту кров на одвірку горі́шнім і на двох одвірках бічни́х, — і обмине́ Господь ті двері, і не дасть згубникові ввійти до ваших домів, щоб ударити.
When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.
А ви бу́дете дотримувати цю річ, як постанови для себе й для синів своїх аж навіки.
“Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance for you and your descendants.
І станеться, коли ви вві́йдете до того Кра́ю, що дасть вам Господь, як Він обіцяв був, то ви бу́дете доде́ржувати цієї служби.
When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as he promised, observe this ceremony.
І станеться, коли запитають вас ваші сини: „Що́ то за служба ваша?“
And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’
то відкажете: „Це жертва — Пасха для Господа, що обминув був доми Ізраїлевих синів в Єгипті, коли побивав Єгипет, а доми наші зберіг“. І схилився наро́д, — і вклонивсь до землі.
then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’ ” Then the people bowed down and worshiped.
І пішли й учинили сини Ізраїля, — як наказав був Господь Мойсеєві та Ааронові, так учинили вони.
The Israelites did just what the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron.
І сталося в половині но́чі, і вдарив Господь в єгипетськім кра́ї кожного перворідного, від перворідного фараона, що сидить на своїм престолі, аж до перворідного полоне́ного, що у в'язни́чному домі, і кожного перворідного худоби.
At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well.
І встав фараон уночі́, він та всі раби його, та ввесь Єгипет. І зня́вся великий зойк в Єгипті, бо не було́ дому, щоб не було там померлого!...
Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.
І покликав фараон Мойсея та Аарона вночі́, та й сказав: „Устаньте, вийдіть з-посеред народу мого, — і ви, і сини Ізраїлеві. І йдіть, служіть Господе́ві, як ви казали!
The Exodus
During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested.

І квапили єги́птяни наро́д той, щоб спішно відпустити їх із кра́ю, бо казали: „Усі ми помремо́!“
The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country. “For otherwise,” they said, “we will all die!”
І поніс той наро́д тісто своє, поки воно вкисло, діжки́ свої, зав'язані в їхні одежі, на плечах своїх.
So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs wrapped in clothing.
І Ізраїлеві сини вчинили за словом Мойсеєвим, і пози́чили від єги́птян посуд срібний і по́суд золотий та шати.
The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing.
А Господь дав милість тому народові в очах Єгипту, — і вони позичили — і забрали здобич від Єгипту.
The Lord had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians.
І вирушили Ізраїлеві сини з Рамесесу до Суккоту, близько шости сот тисяч чоловіка піхоти, крім дітей,
The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Sukkoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children.
а також багато різноголюду підняли́ся з ними, і дрібна худоба й велика худоба, маєток дуже великий.
Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds.
І пекли вони те тісто, що винесли з Єгипту, на прісні коржі́, бо не вкисло воно, бо вони були вигнані з Єгипту, і не могли бари́тися, а поживи на дорогу не пригото́вили собі.
With the dough the Israelites had brought from Egypt, they baked loaves of unleavened bread. The dough was without yeast because they had been driven out of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves.
А перебува́ння Ізраїлевих синів, що сиділи в Єгипті, — чотириста років і тридцять років.
І сталося в кінці чотирьохсот років і тридцяти років, і сталося саме того дня, — вийшли всі Господні війська з єгипетського кра́ю.
At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt.
Це ніч сторо́жі для Господа, бо Він вивів їх з єгипетського кра́ю. Ця сама ніч — сторо́жа для Господа всім синам Ізраїля на їхні поколі́ння.
Because the Lord kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the Lord for the generations to come.
І сказав Господь до Мойсея й до Аарона: „Це постанова про Пасху: жоден чужи́нець не бу́де їсти її.
Passover Restrictions
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “These are the regulations for the Passover meal:
“No foreigner may eat it.

А кожен раб лю́дський, ку́плений за срібло, коли обріжеш його, тоді він буде їсти її.
Any slave you have bought may eat it after you have circumcised him,
Прихо́дько та на́ймит не бу́де їсти її.
but a temporary resident or a hired worker may not eat it.
В само́му домі буде вона їстися, не винесеш із дому назо́вні того м'яса, а костей його не зламаєте.
“It must be eaten inside the house; take none of the meat outside the house. Do not break any of the bones.
А коли буде ме́шкати з тобою прихо́дько, і схоче справляти Пасху Господе́ві, то нехай буде обрі́заний в нього кожен чоловічої статі, а тоді він приступить справляти її, і він буде, як наро́джений в краї. А кожен необрі́заний не буде їсти її.
“A foreigner residing among you who wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover must have all the males in his household circumcised; then he may take part like one born in the land. No uncircumcised male may eat it.
Один зако́н буде для тубі́льця й для прихо́дька, що мешкає серед вас“.
The same law applies both to the native-born and to the foreigner residing among you.”
І вчинили всі Ізраїлеві сини, — як наказав був Господь Мойсеєві та Ааронові, так учинили вони.
All the Israelites did just what the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron.
