та й сказав: „Я згрішив, невинну кров ви́давши“. Вони ж відказали: „А нам що до того? Дивись собі сам“.
saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.”
І, кинувши в храм срібняки́, відійшов, а потому пішов, — та й повісився.
And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.
А первосвященики, як взяли срібняки́, то сказали: „Цього не годи́ться покласти до сховку церковного, — це ж бо заплата за кров“.
But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is blood money.”
А порадившись, купили на них поле ганча́рське, щоб мандрівників ховати,
So they took counsel and bought with them the potter’s field as a burial place for strangers.
чому й зветься те поле „полем крови“ аж до сьогодні.
Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
Тоді справдилось те, що сказав був пророк Єремі́я, промовляючи: „І взяли вони тридцять срібнякі́в, заплату Оціненого, що Його оцінили сини Ізраїлеві,
Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel,
і дали́ їх за поле ганча́рське, як Господь наказав був мені“.
and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.”
Ісус же став перед намісником. І намі́сник Його запитав і сказав: „Чи Ти Цар Юдейський?“ Ісус же йому відказав: „Ти кажеш“.
Jesus Before Pilate
Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You have said so.”

Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the crowd any one prisoner whom they wanted.

And they had then a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
І, як зібрались вони, то сказав їм Пилат: „Котрого бажаєте, щоб я вам відпустив: Варавву, чи Ісуса, що зветься Христос?“
So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”
Бо він знав, що Його через за́здрощі видали.
For he knew that it was out of envy that they had delivered him up.
Коли ж він сидів на судде́вім сиді́нні, його дружи́на прислала сказати йому: „Нічо́го не май з отим Праведником, бо сьогодні вві сні я багато терпіла з-за Нього“.
Besides, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream.”
А первосвященики й старші попідмовля́ли наро́д, щоб просити за Варавву, а Ісусові смерть заподі́яти.
Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.
Намісник тоді відповів і сказав їм: „Котро́го ж із двох ви бажаєте, щоб я вам відпустив?“ Вони ж відказали: „Варавву“.
The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.”
Пилат каже до них: „А що́ ж маю зробити з Ісусом, що зветься Христос?“ Усі закричали: „Нехай ро́зп'ятий бу́де!“
Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!”
А намісник спитав: „Яке ж зло Він зробив?“ Вони ж зачали́ ще сильніше кричати й казати: „Нехай ро́зп'ятий буде!“
And he said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!”
І, як побачив Пила́т, що нічо́го не вдіє, а неспо́кій ще більший стається, набрав він води, та й перед народом умив свої руки й сказав: „Я невинний у крові Його! Самі ви побачите“.
А ввесь наро́д відповів і сказав: „На нас Його кров і на наших дітей!“
And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
Тоді відпустив їм Варавву, а Ісуса, збичувавши, він видав, щоб ро́зп'ятий був.
Тоді то намісникові вояки́, до прето́рія взявши Ісуса, зібрали на Нього ввесь відділ.
І, роздягнувши Його, багряни́цю наділи на Нього.
And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,
І, сплівши з терни́ни вінка, покла́ли Йому на голову, а трости́ну в прави́цю Його. І, навко́лішки падаючи перед Ним, сміялися з Нього й казали: „Раді́й, Ца́рю Юдейський!“
and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
І, плювавши на Нього, хапали тростину, та й по голові Його били.
And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.
А коли назнущалися з Нього, зняли́ з Нього плаща́, і зодягнули в одежу Його. І повели́ Його на розп'яття́.
And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him.
А виходячи, стріли одного кіріне́янина, — Си́мон на йме́ння, — його змусили не́сти для Нього хреста.

As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross.

And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots.
І напис провини Його помістили над Його головою: „Це Ісус, Цар Юдейський“.
And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
Тоді ро́зп'ято з Ним двох розбійників: одного право́руч, а одного ліво́руч.
Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.
А хто побіч прохо́див, Його лихосло́вили та головами своїми хитали,
And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads
і казали: „Ти, що храма руйнуєш та за три дні будуєш, — спаси Само́го Себе! Коли Ти Божий Син, то зійди з хреста!“
and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”
Так само ж і первосвященики з книжниками та старши́ми, насміхаючися, говорили:
So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying,
„Він інших спасав, — а Само́го Себе не може спасти́! Коли Цар Він Ізраїлів, нехай зі́йде тепер із хреста, — і ми повіримо Йому!
“He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.
Покладав Він надію на Бога, — нехай Той Його тепер визволить, якщо Він угодний Йому́. Бо Він говорив: „Я — Син Божий“.
He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
Також насміхалися з Нього й розбійники, що з Ним були ро́зп'яті.
And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.
А від години шостої аж до години дев'ятої — те́мрява сталась по ці́лій землі!
А коло години дев'ятої скрикнув Ісус гучни́м голосом, кажучи: „Елі́, Елі́, лама́ савахта́ні?“ цебто: „Боже Мій, Боже Мій, на́що Мене Ти покинув?“
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”
А один із них зараз побіг і взяв гу́бку та, оцтом її напо́внивши, настромив на трости́ну й давав Йому пити.
And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink.
Інші казали: „Чекай но, поба́чмо, — чи при́йде Ілля визволяти Його“.
But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.”
А Ісус знову голосом гучним скрикнув, — і духа віддав.
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.
І ось заві́са у храмі роздерлась надво́є — від ве́рху аж додолу, і земля потрясла́ся, і зачали́ розпада́тися скелі,
And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.
і повідкривались гроби́, і повставало багато тіл спочилих святих,
The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,
а з гробів повиходивши, по Його воскресінні, до міста святого ввійшли, і багатьо́м з'явились.
and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
А сотник та ті, що Ісуса з ним стерегли́, як землетруса побачили, і те, що там сталося, налякалися ду́же й казали: „Він був справді Син Божий!“
Було там багато й жінок, що дивилися зда́лека, і що за Ісусом прийшли з Галілеї, і Йому прислуго́вували.
There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him,
Між ними була́ Марія Магдалина, і Марія, мати Якова й Йо́сипа, і мати синів Зеведе́євих.
among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
А коли настав вечір, то прийшов муж багатий із Аримате́ї, на ім'я́ Йо́сип, що й сам був навчався в Ісуса.
Jesus Is Buried
When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus.

Він прийшов до Пилата й просив тіла Ісусового. Пилат ізвелів тоді видати.
He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him.
І взяв Йосип Ісусове тіло, обгорнув його в чисте полотно́,
And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud
і поклав його в гробі ново́му своїм, що був висік у скелі. До дверей гробови́х привалив він великого каменя, та й відійшов.
and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away.
Була́ ж там Марія Магдалина та інша Марія, що сиділи насу́проти гро́бу.

А наступного дня, що за п'ятницею, до Пилата зібралися первосвященики та фарисеї,

і сказали: „Пригадали ми, пане, собі, що обма́нець отой, як живий іще був, то сказав: „По трьох днях Я воскре́сну“.

Звели ж гріб стерегти аж до третього дня, щоб учні Його не прийшли, та й не вкрали Його, і не сказали наро́дові: Він із мертвих воскрес! І буде остання обмана гірша за першу“.
Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.”
Відказав їм Пилат: „Сторо́жу ви маєте, — ідіть, забезпечте, як знаєте“.
