    The Wedding at Cana

    On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

    На весілля запрошений був теж Ісус та учні Його.

    Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.

    Як забракло ж вина, то мати Ісусова каже до Нього: „Не мають вина!“
  • 3
    When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”
  • 4
    Ісус же відказує їй: „Що тобі, жо́но, до Мене? Не прийшла ще година Моя!“
  • 4
    And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”

    А мати Його до слуг каже: „Зробіть усе те, що́ Він вам скаже!“
  • 5
    His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

    Було тут шість камінних посу́дин на воду, що стояли для очи́щення юдейського, що відер по дві чи по три вміщали.

    Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.a
  • 7
    Ісус каже до слуг: „Напо́вніть водою посу́дини“. І їх поналива́ли вще́рть.

    Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

    І Він каже до них: „Тепер зачерпні́ть, і занесіть до весільного ста́рости“. І занесли.

    And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.
  • 9
    Як весільний же ста́роста скуштува́в воду, що сталась вином, а він не знав, звідки воно, — знали ж слу́ги, що води наливали, — то староста кличе тоді молодо́го
  • 9
    When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom
  • 10
    та й каже йому: „Кожна люди́на подає перше добре вино, а як понапива́ються, тоді гірше; а ти добре вино аж на досі зберіг“.

    and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

    Такий поча́ток чудам зробив Ісус у Кані́ Галілейській, — і виявив славу Свою. І ввірували в Нього учні Його.

    This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

    Після цього відправивсь Він Сам, і мати Його, і брати Його, і Його учні до Капернау́му, і там перебули небагато днів.

    After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothersb and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

    А зближалася Пасха юдейська, і до Єрусалиму подався Ісус.

    Jesus Cleanses the Temple

    The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

    І знайшов Він, що продавали у храмі волів, і овець, і голубів, та сиділи міня́льники.

    In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there.
  • 15
    І, зробивши бича́ з мотузкі́в, Він вигнав із храму всіх, — вівці й воли, а міня́льникам гроші розси́пав, і попереверта́в їм столи́.
  • 15
    And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.

    І сказав продавця́м голубів: „Заберіть оце звідси, і не робіть із дому Отця Мого дому торго́вого!

    And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”

    Тоді учні Його згадали, що написано: „Ревність до дому Твого з'їдає Мене!“

    His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
  • 18
    І обізва́лись юдеї й сказали Йому: „Яке нам знаме́но покажеш, що Ти можеш робити таке?“

    So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?”
  • 19
    Ісус відповів і промовив до них: „Зруйнуйте цей храм, — і за три дні Я поставлю його!“

    Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
  • 20
    Відказали ж юдеї: „Сорок шість літ будувався цей храм, а Ти за три́ дні поставиш його?“

    The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple,c and will you raise it up in three days?”

    А Він говорив про храм тіла Свого.
  • 21
    But he was speaking about the temple of his body.
  • 22
    Коли ж Він із мертвих воскрес, то учні Його згадали, що Він говорив це, і ввірували в Писа́ння та в слово, що сказав був Ісус.

    When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

    А як в Єрусалимі Він був у свято Пасхи, то багато-хто ввірували в Його Йме́ння, побачивши чуда Його, що чинив.

    Jesus Knows What Is in Man

    Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing.

    Але Сам Ісус їм не звіря́вся, бо Сам знав усіх,

    But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people
  • 25
    і потреби не мав, щоб хто сві́дчив Йому про люди́ну, — бо знав Сам, що в люди́ні було.

    and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.
