And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him,
кажучи: „Чого́ ти ходив до людей необрі́заних та споживав із ними?“
saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”
Петро ж розпочав і їм розповів за порядком, говорячи:
But Peter explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying:
„Був я в місті йоппі́йськім і молився, і бачив в захо́пленні видіння: якась посу́дина схо́дила, немов простира́ло велике, яка, за чотири кінці прив'я́зана, спускалася з неба й підійшла аж до мене.
“I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.
Зазирнувши до неї, я поглянув, і побачив там чотириногих землі, і звірів, і гаддя, і небесних пташок.
When I observed it intently and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.
І голос почув я, що мені промовляв: „Устань, Петре, заколи та й їж!“
And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’
А я відказав: „Жодним способом, Господи, — бо ніко́ли нічого оги́дного чи то нечистого в у́ста мої не вхо́дило!“
But I said, ‘Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.’
І відповів мені голос із неба вдруге: „Що від Бога очищене, не вважай за оги́дне того́!“
But the voice answered me again from heaven, ‘What God has cleansed you must not call common.’
І це сталося тричі, і все знов було взяте на небо.
Now this was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.
І ось три чоловіки, посланці з Кесарі́ї до мене, перед домом, де був я, спинилися за́раз.
At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.
І сказав мені Дух іти з ними без жодного сумніву. Зо мною ж пішли й оці шестеро браття, і ввійшли ми до дому того чоловіка.
Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house.
І він нам розповів, як у домі своїм бачив ангола, який став і сказав: „Пошли до Йоппі́ї, та приклич того Си́мона, що зветься Петром,
And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, ‘Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter,
він слова́ тобі скаже, якими спасешся і ти, і ввесь дім твій“.
who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.’
А як я промовляв, зли́нув на них Святий Дух, як споча́тку й на нас.
And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.
І я згадав слово Господнє, як Він говорив: „Іван ось водою христив, ви ж охрищені будете Духом Святим“.
Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
Отож, коли Бог дав одна́ковий дар їм, як і нам, що ввірували в Господа Ісуса Христа, то хто́ ж я такий, щоб міг заперечити Богові?“
If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”
І, почувши таке, замовкли вони, і Бога хвалили, говорячи: „Отож, і поганам Бог дав покая́ння в життя!“
When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”
А ті, хто розпоро́шився від переслідування, що зняло́ся було через Степа́на, перейшли навіть до Фінікі́ї, і Кі́пру, і Антіохі́ї, не звіщаючи сло́ва ніко́му, крім юдеїв.

Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only.

А між ними були мужі деякі з Кіпру та з Кіріне́ї, що до Антіохі́ї прийшли, і промовляли й до греків, благові́стячи про Господа Ісуса.
But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.
І Господня рука була з ними; і велике число їх увірувало, і навернулось до Господа!
And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
І вістка про них досягла́ до вух єрусали́мської Церкви, і до Антіохі́ї послали Варнаву.
Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch.
А він, як прийшов і благодать Божу побачив, звеселився, і всіх став просити, щоб серцем рішучим трималися Господа.
When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.
Бо він добрий був муж, повний Духа Святого та віри. І прилучилось багато наро́ду до Господа!
For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
Після того подався Варна́ва до Та́рсу, щоб Са́вла шукати.
Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul.
А знайшовши, привів в Антіохі́ю. І збирались у Церкві вони цілий рік, і навчали багато народу, і в Антіохі́ї найперш християнами на́звано учнів.
And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
Прибули́ ж тими днями пророки від Єрусалиму до Антіохі́ї.
Relief to Judea
And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

І встав один з них, на йме́ння Ага́в, і Духом прорік, що голод великий у ці́лому світі настане, як за Кла́вдія був.
Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.
Тоді учні, усякий із своєї спроможности, постановили послати допомогу братам, що в Юдеї жили.
Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.
