Greeting

Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

Божій Церкві, що в Кори́нті, посвяченим у Христі Ісусі, покли́каним святим, зо всіма́, що на всякому місті приклика́ють Ім'я́ Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, їхнього і нашого, —

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are [a]sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

благода́ть вам і мир від Бога Отця нашого й Господа Ісуса Христа!

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Я за́вжди дякую моєму Богові за вас, через Божу благода́ть, що була вам да́на в Христі Ісусі,

Spiritual Gifts at Corinth

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus,

бо ви всім збагати́лися в Ньому, — словом усяким і всяким знання́м,

that you were enriched in everything by Him in all [b]utterance and all knowledge,

6

бо свідо́цтво Христове між вами утверди́лось,

even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed [c]in you,

7

так що не маєте недоста́чі в жоднім да́рі благода́ті ви, що очікуєте з'я́влення Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.

so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Він вас утвердить до кінця неповинними бути дня Господа нашого Ісуса Христа!

who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9

Вірний Бог, що ви через Нього покли́кані до спільноти́ Сина Його Ісуса Христа, Господа нашого.

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Тож благаю вас, браття, Ім'я́м Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, щоб ви всі говорили те саме, і щоб не було поміж вами поді́лення, але щоб були́ ви поєднані в однім розумінні та в думці одній!

Sectarianism Is Sin

Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all [d]speak the same thing, and that there be no [e]divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Бо стало відо́мо мені про вас, мої браття, від Хло́їних, що між вами супере́чки.

For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are [f]contentions among you.

12

А кажу́ я про те, що з вас кожен говорить: я ж Па́влів, а я Аполло́сів, а я Ки́фин, а я Христів.

Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.”

13

Чи ж Христос поділився? Чи ж Павло був розп'я́тий за вас? Чи в Павло́ве ім'я́ ви христились?

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

14

Дякую Богові, що я ані одно́го з вас не христив, окрім Крі́спа та Га́я,

I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,

15

щоб ніхто не сказав, ніби я охристив був у йме́ння своє.

15

lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.

16

Охристив же був я й дім Степанів; більш не знаю, чи христив кого іншого я.

16

Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other.

17

Бо Христос не послав мене, щоб христити, а звіщати Єва́нгелію, і то не в мудрості слова, щоб безсилим не став хрест Христа.

17

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

18

Бож слово про хреста тим, що гинуть, — то глупо́та, а для нас, що спасаємось, — Сила Божа!

Christ the Power and Wisdom of God

For the [g]message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

19

Бо написано: „Я погублю́ мудрість премудрих, а розум розумних відки́ну!“

19

For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

20

Де мудрий? Де книжник? Де дослі́дувач віку цього́? Хіба Бог мудрість світу цього́ не змінив на глупо́ту?

20

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the [h]disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21

Через те ж, що світ мудрістю не зрозумів Бога в мудрості Божій, то Богові вгодно було́ спасти віруючих через ду́рість проповіді.

21

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

22

Бо й юдеї жадають ознак, і греки пошу́кують мудрости,

22

For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;

23

а ми проповідуємо Христа розп'я́того, — для юдеїв згі́ршення, а для греків — безу́мство,

23

but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a [i]stumbling block and to the [j]Greeks foolishness,

24

а для самих покликаних юдеїв та греків — Христа, Божу силу та Божу мудрість!

24

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

25

Бо Боже й немудре — розумніше воно від людей, а Боже не́мічне — сильніше воно від людей!

25

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26

Дивіться бо, браття, на ваших покликаних, що небагато-хто мудрі за ті́лом, небагато-хто сильні, небагато-хто шляхе́тні.

26

Glory Only in the Lord

For [k]you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many [l]noble, are called.

27

Але Бог вибрав немудре світу, щоб засоро́мити мудрих, і не́мічне світу Бог вибрав, щоб засоромити сильне,

27

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

28

і про́стих світу, і погорджених, і незначни́х вибрав Бог, щоб значне́ зні́вечити.

28

and the [m]base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,

29

так щоб не хвалилося перед Богом жодне тіло.

29

that no flesh should glory in His presence.

30

А з Нього ви в Христі Ісусі, що став нам мудрістю від Бога, — пра́ведністю ж, і освя́ченням, і відку́пленням,

30

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption —

31

щоб було, як написано: „Хто хва́литься, нехай хва́литься Господом!“

31

that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”
