Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All
For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.

Інакше вони перестали б прино́ситись, бо ті, хто служить, очищені раз, уже б не мали жодної свідо́мости гріхів.
Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins?
Але в них спо́мин про гріхи буває щороку,

бо тож неможливе, щоб кров биків та козлів здіймала гріхи!
For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Тому́ то, вхо́дячи в світ, Він говорить: „Жертви й прино́шення Ти не схотів, але тіло Мені приготува́в.
Цілопа́лення й жертви поку́тної Ти не жадав.

Тоді Я сказав: Ось іду́, — в звої книжки про Мене написано, щоб волю чини́ти Твою, Боже“!

Він вище сказав, що „жертви й при́носу, та цілопа́лення й жертви поку́тної, — які за Зако́ном прино́сяться, — Ти не жадав і Собі не вподо́бав“.
When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law),
Пото́му сказав: „Ось іду, щоб волю Твою чини́ти, Боже“. Відміняє Він перше, щоб друге поставити.
then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second.
У цій волі ми освячені жертвоприно́шенням тіла Ісуса Христа один раз.
And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
І кожен священик щоденно стоїть, слу́жачи, і часто приносить жертви ті самі, що ніко́ли не можуть зняти гріхів.
And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
А Він за гріхи світу приніс жертву один раз, і наза́вжди „по Божій правиці засів“,
далі чекаючи, „аж вороги Його бу́дуть покладені за підніжка Його ніг“.
waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.
Бо жертвоприно́шенням одним вдоскона́лив Він тих, хто освячується.
For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
Свідкує ж і Дух Святий нам, як говорить:
And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
„Оце заповіт, що його по цих днях встановля́ю Я з ними, говорить Господь, — Закони Свої Я дам в їхні серця́, і в їхніх думка́х напишу́ їх.
“This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds,”

А їхніх гріхів та несправедливостей їхніх Я більш не згадаю“!
then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

А де їхнє відпущення, там нема вже жертвоприно́шення за гріхи.
Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
Отож, браття, ми маємо відвагу вхо́дити до святині кров'ю Ісусовою,
ново́ю й живою дорогою, яку нам обнови́в Він через завісу, цебто через тіло Своє,
by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,
маємо й Великого Священика над домом Божим, —
and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
то приступі́мо з щирим серцем, у повноті́ віри, окропи́вши серця́ від сумління лукавого та обмивши тіла́ чистою водою!
let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Трима́ймо непохи́тне визна́ння надії, вірний бо Той, Хто обіцяв.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
І уважаймо один за одни́м для заохо́ти до любови й до добрих учинків.
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
Не кидаймо збору свого, як то зви́чай у деяких, але заохочуймося, і тим більше, скільки більше ви бачите, що зближається день той.
not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Бо як ми грішимо́ самові́льно, одержавши пізна́ння правди, то вже за гріхи не знахо́диться жертви,
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
а страшливе якесь сподіва́ння су́ду та гнів палю́чий, що має пожерти противників.
but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
Хто відкидає Зако́на Мойсея, такий немилосердно вмирає „при двох чи трьох свідках“, —
Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses.
скільки ж більшої му́ки, — доду́муєтеся? — заслуговує той, хто потоптав Сина Божого, і хто кров заповіту, що нею освячений, за звичайну вважав, і хто Духа благодаті зневажив!
How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?
Бо знаємо Того, Хто сказав: „Мені помста належить, Я відплачу́, говорить Господь“. І ще: „Господь буде судити наро́да Свого“!
For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
Страшна́ річ — упасти в руки Бога Живого!
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Згадайте ж про перші дні ваші, як ви просвітилися й витерпіли запеклу боротьбу стражда́нь.
But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings,
Ви були́ то видо́вищем зневаги й знуща́ння, то були́ учасниками тих, що жили́ так.
sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated.
Ви бо страждали й з ув'язнененими, і грабу́нок свого майна́ прийняли́ з потіхою, відаючи, що маєте в небі для себе майно немину́ще та краще.
For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.
Тож не відкидайте відваги своєї, бо має велику нагоро́ду вона.
Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.
Бо вам терпеливість потрібна, щоб Божу волю вчинити й прийняти обітницю.
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
Бо ще „мало, дуже мало, і Той, хто має прийти, при́йде й бари́тись не бу́де!“
For,
“Yet a little while,
and the coming one will come and will not delay;
“Yet a little while,

А „праведний житиме вірою“. І: „Коли захитається він, то душа Моя його не вподо́бає“.
but my righteous one shall live by faith,
and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”
