For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.

God is renowned in Judah;
in Israel his name is great.

Голосно я закличу до Господа, голосом своїм — до Бога, і Він мене почує.

His tent is in Salem,
his dwelling place in Zion.

У день моєї журби я шукаю Бога, шукаю Його руками вночі, — і я не був обманутий. Моя душа відмовилася від потіх.

There he broke the flashing arrows,
the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.b

Як згадав Бога, — втішився; як виговорився, — мій дух підупав.

You are radiant with light,
more majestic than mountains rich with game.

Мої очі не заплющуються до ранньої сторожі; я в журбі та в мовчанні.

The valiant lie plundered,
they sleep their last sleep;
not one of the warriors
can lift his hands.

Я роздумую про давні дні, я згадую одвічні роки — і вчуся.

At your rebuke, God of Jacob,
both horse and chariot lie still.

Вночі я розмовляю зі своїм серцем, і мій дух допитується:

It is you alone who are to be feared.
Who can stand before you when you are angry?

Чи Господь відкине навіки і більш не прихилиться?

From heaven you pronounced judgment,
and the land feared and was quiet —

Невже назавжди припинилося Його милосердя від роду до роду?

when you, God, rose up to judge,
to save all the afflicted of the land.

Невже Бог забуде помилувати і стримає Своє милосердя у Своєму гніві?

Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,
and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.c

І я сказав: Тепер я почав, — це зміна правиці Всевишнього!

Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;
let all the neighboring lands
bring gifts to the One to be feared.

Я пригадаю Господні діла, бо пам’ятатиму Твої давні дивовижні чудеса,

He breaks the spirit of rulers;
he is feared by the kings of the earth.
